It’s Time to Elect the Best Pro-Life Candidates

From the Political Action Committee Chairman ~

In Respect for Life,Dave Plemmons

Dave Plemmons

As pro-life activists and life-first voters, it bears repeating and reinforcing during each election cycle – keep working, keep praying, keep voting! Babies die when we don’t.

And keep educating. I was reminded of this important factor just this week when I received a call from a candidate curious about his status as a possible endorsee in a state legislative primary. We had never met, and he had never before held office. We had a great discussion, but he kept apologizing for taking part of my Saturday for a phone call. But I’m the one who kept him talking. Why? Because it’s a priority to spend time explaining issues and history to a guy who could end up being in the Missouri General Assembly. And he should know the issues, whether he wins or not – and frankly, whether we endorse him or not!

That being said, I’d like to implore everyone who is a life-first voter to be vigilant in their decisions on whom to support and elect. This is especially important in races where multiple candidates are pinning the pro-life label on themselves.

I am so proud of the work that our Missouri Right to Life Political Action Committee does. The PAC board is representative of all pro-life Missourians. We work very hard to reflect the life-saving priorities of our members statewide.

And what are the guidelines and priorities for endorsement? Of course, first and foremost a candidate must be pro-life! This is determined based on the candidate’s responses to Missouri Right to Life PAC’s survey, public statements, public record, voting records for those who presently hold or previously held office, candidate interviews, and information from those in the districts. Endorsements are non-partisan, although only major-party candidates are typically considered.

Please take a close look at our Missouri Right to Life PAC endorsements.

Pick good candidates, then get out and get them elected! Lives depend on it!

were born for such a time as this.”

No No GrEITENs!No response to Missouri right to Life PAC survey ... No reply to request for meeting

Despite numerous requests for a completed survey and for a meeting with Republican gubernatorial candidate Eric Greitens, Missouri Right to Life PAC received no response.

Dave Plemmons, MRL PAC’s chair, said the PAC made frequent and repeated attempts to obtain that candidate sur-vey from Mr. Greitens and to meet with the candidate. Those attempts were unsuccessful.

It is disappointing that returning a survey from the larg-est pro-life organization in the state would not be a priority. However, that seems to be the situation and indicates that pro-life voters need to work and vote for one of the MRL PAC-endorsed candidates.

An endorsed candidate will help ensure a pro-life governor.

the take-away -- vote for an MrL PAC-endorsed candidate who supports LIFE!

“Missouri Right to Life is profoundly disappointed in the U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning the Texas law that requires protective measures for women seeking abortion. Missouri passed similar laws in 2005. These laws requiring that an abortionist have hospital privileges within 30 miles of the abortion clinic and that abortion clinics follow the same proce-dures as all ambulatory surgical centers are common sense safety measures and not undue burdens,” said Steve Rupp, President of Missouri Right to Life.

President Rupp continued, “This de-cision allows the abortion industry to operate unsafe clinics -- and with little oversight. The court ignored recent cases of medical negligence, manslaughter, and murder carried out in abortion clinics in Pennsylvania and Texas. Today the court advanced the abortion agenda over the protection of women’s health.”
