Thanks for downloading “You’re NOT Lifting Your Head.” I wrote this book in 1999 for all the golfers who incorrectly say and believe they lift their head or take their eye off the ball on a missed shot. If you have ever said it or thought it, you need this book!

This book also shows you the difference between a great teacher and poor teacher.

This was the first golf instruction book written in "novel" or story format. It is a fun read and you will know exactly how to improve your game. Some readers have told me that they wished there were more photographs in the book. Now that it’s an e-book, you can click on the following links to better illustrate the golf essentials covered:

Grip and Posture

Ball Position and Aim

Golf’s Most Important Lesson

Swing Plane

Club Face

Chipping

Pitching

Putting

Bunker Play

This book retails for $15. I believe the information can put you on the road to being a better golfer. At no cost, you have nothing to lose. My goal is to get at least one million downloads of this book. Please forward to all of your friends who have ever told you to keep your head down.

For more helpful video lessons, free downloads and information about our golf schools, please visit www.reynoldsgolfacademy.com. And be on the outlook for my next book, “The New Rules of Golf Instruction”, which I believe will be an industry-changing book.

Thanks again,

Charlie King

About the Author

CHARLIE KING GREW UP IN THE EAST TENNESSEE

TOWN of Decatur. He was bitten by the golf bug while a student at Tennessee Technological University. After graduating with a B.S. in Marketing in 1987, he pursued his dream of being a player in Orlando, Florida. He searched for a teacher who would help him reach his full potential, but was unsuccessful the first few years. Charlie quickly learned his passion was not limited to playing, but that he found a similar enjoyment in teaching others to maximize their potential. His difficulty in finding a teacher for his own game during this period inspired him to write an understandable book that would enable other golfers to avoid these same pitfalls and identify a competent professional.

Charlie began his career in 1988 as an assistant professional and then as a teaching professional at Swing=s the Thing Golf Schools at Orange Lake Country Club, Florida. From 1992

Page 10: You're NOT Lifting Your Head

through 2000, he taught at The Golf Academy of the South, Florida, taking great pride in helping the students set higher standards for their lives and careers. He is a two-time recipient of the prestigious Horton Smith Award for contributions to education in the North Florida Section of the PGA.

Charlie was the Director of Instruction at Tuscawilla Country Club in Orlando, Florida, and at the Academy of Golf at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He became the Teaching Professional at Nantucket Golf Club for two seasons before coming to his current position as Director of Instruction of Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Georgia.

This book=s first publication, in 2000, marked the beginning of Charlie=s efforts to see fundamental change in the way golfers approach learning golf. He continues to believe that more people could enjoy this game of all games more fully if they only knew how. At the same time the book was originally published, he also established his company, UnCommon Golf, and a newsletter, taking his passion for seeing improvement in his students= games to a higher level.

He lives in Bishop, Georgia, with his wife, Julie, daughter, Kathryn, and son, Brian.

Epilogue Thanks for reading “You’re NOT Lifting Your Head.” I hope you found it helpful and you are on the road to improving your golf game. This story incorporates the elements of a successful learning program. Instruction like Harry Wilkinson’s in the book is our standard at the Reynolds Golf Academy. Unfortunately, today, most golfers are self-taught and have the same misconceptions as J.B. and Brian. Some who have ventured to take lessons have been disappointed by situations similar to J.B.’s experience with Jack Pierce. Let me paint a picture of the future. You decide to take a lesson. You now decide to go to a qualified instructor that has been recommended to you. You ask your prospective instructor about his or her program, and you set goals together. Your short game is evaluated as well as your equipment. The goals are then made into a plan that is put into practice over the next couple of years. In the first few lessons, you learn the correct concepts and corresponding drills. You then come for lessons on a regular basis to turn the concepts into habits. Your game improves in stages, and your handicap goes down. Your confidence grows, and you enjoy the game much more. Now I’ll let you in on a secret. Top instructors love seeing their students’ improvement: when the light bulb goes on in the student’s head after a concept is shown; when the slice turns into a draw; when the infuriating topped shot is replaced by solid impact; when a tension-filled hit is replaced by a rhythmic swing. These are the moments when the teacher knows why he took up golf instruction as a profession. We are sick of slices and scoops. They can be cured so easily. Starting today, I challenge all the golfers who desire to get better to seek out the best instructor in their area. Judge them against the standards of Harry Wilkinson, and become very involved in your improvement process. I want to help you find your Harry Wilkinson!
