During Swedish wedding receptions, guests are encouraged and welcome to contribute something in the way of entertainment. If you would like to share a few words

about the bride and groom, sing a song, perform a brief skit to poke fun at the newlyweds or show photographs and

reminisce about the couple’s younger years, please do!

We would like to make use of this unique opportunity, with so many people we love from different corners of our lives

in one room, and look forward to our guests getting to know one another through these contributions.

You may contact one of our wedding hosts to inform them in advance of your contribution.

Make “J + L wedding contribution” your subject line and mention your connection to the bride and groom in the e-mail.

There will also be an opportunity during the reception to let the hosts know you’d like to share something.

The closest airport to fly into is Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The airport is about a 30-minute drive

from Iowa City, where Lisa currently lives. Iowa City, in turn, is about a 45-minute drive from the wedding venue just outside of Washington. Cedar Rapids is a small city with a

small airport, and therefore the flights can be expensive. It would likely be cheaper to make your final flight

destination Chicago O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois, which is about 3.5 hours from Iowa City. Or Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport in

Minneapolis, Minnesota, which is another much bigger city about 5 hours from Iowa City.

If you do choose to fly into Chicago or Minneapolis, there are buses that can take you to downtown Iowa City. A round trip from Chicago to Iowa City through www.megabus.com

is about $40.

Page 13: You're invited!

If you would like instead to rent a car to drive from the airport to your lodging and the wedding, the website

www.travelocity.com offers good deals. Renting a car is probably your best option, as it allows you more flexibility in

terms of time management and lodging.

If you need advice on transportation services or help with a ride to the wedding venue, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

For travellers crossing the great sea, we recommend you spend some time looking at different plane routes to gauge

price differences.

If you are coming from Europe, there are usually relatively affordable tickets available from London to Chicago, as it is a well-established flight course. Whichever route you choose,

we encourage you to begin searching for tickets online as early as November to obtain the cheapest possible prices.

Depending on your country of origin, you may need a VISA to enter the United States. If you are Swedish, you need to apply for an ESTA visa online beforehand. Make

sure you look up correct information on tourist visas before travel.

In addition, you might need to apply for an international driving license in your country in order to rent and drive a car in the United States. This is strongly recommended in

Sweden, according to Motormannen: https://www.motormannen.se/resan/bila-i-usa-och-kanada/
