The Honours Programme and Specialist Pathways

• The honours pathways programme offers an opportunity for gifted and talented students to

progress to highly competitive universities, courses and apprenticeships.

• Pathways involve studying your chosen A levels whilst accessing relevant enrichment activities to

prepare you for your chosen career.

West Hatch Pathways Programme We have the opportunity for year 12 students to join the West Hatch Pathways Programme. All you need is to have an idea about what you would like to study

at university or your chosen career path. The Pathways Programmes are designed to provide students with:

– Tailored advice and guidance to help you apply to Oxbridge and Russell Group Universities

– Mentoring and guidance specifically aimed at your chosen pathway from specialists in that field (such as Hertford College,

University of Oxford and/or Livery companies)– Advice on any further qualifications that may help you apply to

your chosen university – Enrichment opportunities such as debates, extended projects,

guest speakers, professional visits & workshops, practice interviews

– And many more opportunities provided by the Pathway Leaders

What Pathway Programmes are there? • Philosophy and Social Sciences (Led by Mrs Bowman)

• Physical Sciences and Engineering (Led by Mr Peters)

• Medicine and Pharmacy (TBC)

• Law and Justice (Led by Mrs Virdi)

• Journalism and media (TBC)

• Accountancy and finance (Led by Mr Russell)

• MORE TO COME!!

How will joining the West Hatch Honours Programme or the Pathways help you?

You will get additional help and advice on your university application to make sure it stands out

You will get specialist advice on any additional examinations that may need to be sat to

apply for your course

You will have additional information to write on your personal statement to help you stand out against the rest!

So what do you do next?• If you are interested in applying to join, come and see

me in the Social Sciences office.

• We will be approaching students who we think would benefit from this support.

What about parents and/or carers? You could be a mentor to our students and offer advice

and/or guidance in accessing your careerOr be a guest speaker (loads of support offered!)

Or you could support your child in ensuring they make the most of their time at West Hatch 6th form and ensure

they make the most of this opportunity

Any questions?• If you can’t think of any now but would like to contact me later please email me:
