PUBLIC REVIEW OF SURFACE RIGHTS LEGISLATION LAUNCHES IN SASKATCHEWAN
g ov. c a - T h e G ov e r n m e nt o f Saskatchewan launched a public review of The Surface Rights Acquisition and Compensation Act today. The Act establishes guidelines to ensure the rights of landowners and mineral rights holders with respect to accessing land for exploration and development.
“The Act was introduced in 1968 and has remained largely unchanged since that time,” Energy and Resources Minister Tim McMillan said. “The agriculture and oil and gas industries
have experienced many changes over those years, so a review of the Act is needed. We want to ensure that the legislation continues to serve the needs of all property holders – surface or mineral.”
The public review will provide an opportunity for all stakeholders – i n c l u d i n g l a n d o w n e r s , r u r a l municipalities, agricultural organizations and the oil and gas industry – as well as members of the general public to provide comments on potential changes to the legislation.
“We bel ieve that Saskatchewan landowners and the oil and gas industry deserve to operate under an efficient and

People can participate in the review by submitting written comments on the potential changes. An online discussion paper contains an overview of some of the issues raised in recent years, as well as questions to assist participants in the review and initiate discussion. The tentative deadline for comments is November 30, 2013; however, if harvest is delayed in Saskatchewan, the deadline will be extended.
Please visit www.economy.gov.sk.ca/surfacerightsreview to participate in the online review. You can also email [email protected] or call 306-787-5727 for more information on how to participate in the review process.
CONFUSED ABOUT WHAT TO DO IN THE WORK ZONE & WHEN YOU HAVE TO SLOW DOWN?
gov.ca - When a driver f irst encounters the highway work zone, they will see an orange sign with a black image of a worker on it and a t ab t h a t i d e n t i f i e s “ Wo rke r s Present”. This will be followed by a black and white speed sign of 60 km/h.
At this point the driver must legal ly s low to 60 km/h, no exceptions. It’s the law and it’s black and white. The black-and-white sign is a regulatory speed sign, like all speed signs across the country, indicating the legal maximum speed.
A driver will know they are approaching the end of the work zone by a sign that says “End of Work Area” followed by another “black-and-white” regulatory sign that indicates the driver can resume the posted maximum speed limit.
The different signage is one of many measures that are being taken to clear up confusion and keep workers and drivers safe in work zones.

On this day in 1969, the Woodstock Music Festival opens on a patch of farmland in White Lake, a hamlet in the upstate New York town of Bethel. Promoters John Roberts, Joel Rosenman, Artie Kornfield and Mi-chael Lang originally envisioned the festival as a way to raise funds to build a recording studio and rock-and-roll retreat near the town of Woodstock, New York. The longtime artists’ colony was already a home base for Bob Dylan and other musicians. Despite their rel-ative inexperience, the young promoters managed to sign a roster of top acts, including the Jefferson Airplane, the Who, the Grateful Dead, Sly and the Family Stone, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Creed-ence Clearwater Revival and many more. Plans for the festival were on the verge of foundering, however, after both Woodstock and the nearby town of Wallkill denied permission to hold the event. Dairy farmer Max Yasgur came to the rescue at the last minute, giving the promoters access to his 600 acres of land in Bethel, some 50 miles from Woodstock. Early estimates of attendance increased from 50,000 to around 200,000, but by the time the gates opened on Friday, August 15, more than 400,000 people were clamoring to get in. Those without tickets simply walked through gaps in the fences, and the organizers were eventually forced to make the event free of charge. Folk singer and guitarist Richie Havens kicked off the event with a long set, and Joan Baez and Arlo Guthrie also performed on Friday night. Somewhat improbably, the chaotic gathering of half a million young “hippies” lived up to its billing of “Three Days of Peace and Music.” There were surprisingly few incidents of violence on the overcrowded grounds, and a number of musicians performed songs expressing their opposition to the Vietnam War. Among the many great moments at the Woodstock Music Festival were career-making performances by up-and-coming acts like Santana, Joe Cocker and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young; the Who’s early-morning set featuring songs from their classic rock opera “Tommy”; and the closing set by Hendrix, which climaxed with an improvised solo guitar perfor-mance of “The Star Spangled Banner.” Though Woodstock had left its promoters nearly bankrupt, their ownership of the film and recording rights more than compensated for the losses after the release of a hit documentary film in 1970. Later music festivals inspired by Woodstock’s success failed to live up to its standard, and the festival still stands for many as a example of Amer-ica’s 1960s youth counterculture at its best.

TIPS 3-5 OF 8 BACK-TO-SCHOOL TIPS FOR PARENTS3. PLAN AHEAD. To eliminate disorder at home, designate where school bags and supplies will be stored and stock plenty of lunch options. “Look for ways to simplify life as opposed to complicating it,” says Beuermann-King. Your kids can put away their own belongings and easily find them the next day. They can even pack their own lunches, saving you time and anxiety.
4. MAKE TIME FOR BREAKFAST. You tell your kids that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but do you follow your own advice? Eating breakfast before you head out the door will stave off hunger pains, boost your energy and help you keep your focus for wherever the day takes you.
“Your mood goes up and down the same way your kids’ [moods] do when it comes to food and energy,” says Beuermann-King. Skip sugary cereals and carbo-hydrate-laden meals. Instead, opt for a protein-rich breakfast that includes eggs, oatmeal or turkey bacon. The protein will provide plenty of energy until lunchtime, and will prevent spikes in blood-sugar levels that can leave you irritable and anxious. 5. CHOOSE EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES CAREFULLY. When kids are enrolled in too many after-school activities, it creates a one-way ticket to parental overload. Select one or two activities for your child that won’t wear you out with driving duties. It’s also really helpful to lean on fellow parents. “Don’t be afraid to ask for help and carpool with other parents. You’ll end up driving a few times every few weeks and it will cut down on travel time,” says Beuer-mann-King.

Little Jonny was assigned a job for the choir on Christmas his job was when the choir sang ‘and the Angel lit the candle’ he was to come out and light the candle.
So before the service on Christmas Eve they had a practice. So the choir got to the part and sang ‘and the Angel lit the candle’ and there was no Jonny so they sang
