celebrate our 400 tea-loving employees with empowering programmes

The English Tea Shop was set up in 2010 with a passionate belief in doing

EU certification gives a coherent identity to

European Union produced organic products

which make it easier for the consumers to

identify organic products and help farmers to

market them across the entirety of the EU. The

organic logo can only be used on products

that have been certified as organic by an authorised control

agency or body. This guarantees that products have fulfilled strict

conditions on how they must be produced, processed, transported

and stored. EU certification further helps maintain trust in organic

food and support the authorities in their inspection regimes.

Soil Association certification offers a huge range of

organic and sustainable certification schemes across

food, farming, catering, health and beauty, textiles and

forestry which are recognised and trusted by consumers

and businesses around the world. It also is the UK’s largest organic

certification body, responsible for certifying over 70% of the growing

organic market with over 3,500 farms and organic businesses all

over the world. Having the Soil Association organic symbol sends

a clear message to an ever-growing number of consumers that the

products are environmentally and socially responsible.

USDA certification serves as a road map to help ensure

the delivery of an ethical and environment-friendly

product according to specific requirements verified

by the USA accredited certifying agent. USDA certified

products demonstrate that the operations or the processing of the

product protect natural resources, conserve biodiversity, and use

only approved substances.

Kosher certification supports changes and trends in the

food and beverage industry. It guarantees that each

ingredient, food additive and processing aid used

in the production of a particular product identify the

absence of meat, fish and dairy products.

The Non-GMO Project is a nonprofit organization

committed to preserving and building sources of

non-GMO products, educating consumers, and

providing verified non-GMO choices. The Non-GMO

Project’s Standard requires that all verified products have systems

in place for testing, traceability, segregation, formulation, labelling

and quality assurance.

AB, “agriculture biologique”, a certification offered by

The French Ministry of Agriculture and Fishing, fulfils the

EU regulations for organic food. Organic products that

carry the logo contain more than 95 percent organic

components, and be produced or processed within the EU, and

were certified by one of the authorised inspection bodies.

The Halal certification guarantees that the product

and services aimed at the Islamic population

meet particular requirements of Islamic law. The

use of Halal logo on products guarantees that

the products are manufactured or processed according to Codex

Alimentarius Commission.

Japanese agricultural standard (JAS) strives

to ensure that organic foods are produced

by processing methods utilizing physical and

biological functions, avoiding the use of chemical, synthesized

additives, and chemical agents in the manufacturing and

processing process.

Fairtrade is an alternative approach to conventional

trade based on a partnership between producers and

traders, businesses and consumers. The certification

assures to connect disadvantaged farmers and

workers with consumers, to empower them to combat

poverty, strengthen their position and take more control over their

lives, protection of workers’ rights and the environment. It also

enables consumers to directly play a part in uplifting farmers’ lives.

ISO 14001 is intended for use by organizations

that seek to minimize the environmental footprint.

It certifies that all environmental issues fulfil

compliance obligations and risks and opportunities

relevant to its operations, such as air pollution,

problems of water and sewage, waste management, energy

consumption, soil contamination, climate change mitigation and

adaptation.

VegeCert and the Toronto Vegetarian Association

work together to formulate its high standards. They

ensure that all products are 100% free from all animal

products and by-products including dairy and

eggs. Going vegan is not just a health booster but

also paves the path to reduce the environmental

impact on our planet.

ISO 22000 standards aim to eliminate the risk of

Biological, Chemical & Physical hazards throughout

the entire food supply-chain process and outline the

relevant procedures required to meet international

food safety standards. The ISO 22000 certification

guarantees that products and services are safe, reliable, are of

good quality while facilitating free and fair global trade.

The Demeter certification ensures all products

are not just organic but biodynamic as well.

Organic and both Biodynamic are grown without

chemicals and GMOs, but Biodynamic goes a step further, it applies

a holistic approach and the main difference is that biodynamic

farming uses different principles that add vitality to the plant, soil,

animal or livestock and consider these as a single system and uses

specifically prepared preparations made from minerals and herbs,

incorporates astrological influences of the moon and other planets

for gardeners and farmers when planting and harvesting crops.

BRC is the British Retail Consortium, established to

harmonize food safety standards across the supply

chain. Being the most popular standard under the

Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) makes sure that

the rules prescribe quality, safety, and operational

guidelines to ensure that manufacturers fulfil their

legal obligations and provide protection for the end

consumer.
