Zeus GPS Antenna

Confidence in your position is one of the critical requirements of a sailing navigation system. The Zeus ZG series GPS Antennas provide high accuracy position, course and speed up to ten times every second ensuring maximum confidence in the displayed position.

Connection via the network to Zeus displays ensures that all units use the same GPS position data no matter where they are located in the yacht.

Zeus integrates with SonicHub™ multimedia systems, providing multi-zone audio from sources including mp3 USB and iPod devices along with an integrated FM/AM tuner*

WIFI-1

The WIFI-1 is a marine grade wireless gateway which enables GoFree™ functionality with Zeus sailing navigation systems.

This low profile wi-fi gateway allows multiple tablets or smartphones to be used to view network data. WIFI-1 connects to B&G Zeus sailing navigation systems via Ethernet and supports wireless connectivity using 802.11b/g wireless protocols. A number of B&G Zeus Touch chartplotters can be used with just one WIFI-1 module, meaning that an entire system can be online with the addition of just one wireless gateway.

NAIS-400

Zeus sailing navigation systems integrate seamlessly with the NAIS-400 Class B AIS transceiver. Class B AIS transceivers both receive other vessels positions and transmit your position – allowing you to see and be seen.

The NAIS-400 connects directly via NMEA2000®, providing the navigator with display of all AIS equipped vessels within VHF range. Vessel data such as MMSI Number, Vessel Name, Call Sign and Type is available, along with dynamic data including Position, Course, Distance and more. A matched antenna splitter allows installation to an existing VHF antenna.

Which H3000 System is Right for Me?

When selecting a system for your boat you need to consider the type of sailing you will be doing and under what conditions. B&G offer complete Boat Packs in three configurations, or we provide system Base Packs along with a range of Displays, Pilots and Sensors to enable you to build your own customised system. use the guide below and consult your local B&G specialist for advice.

Select the base pack that suits your application

Hercules Motion is for those at the top end of yacht racing who are looking for precision data, but who do not require the additional power and features of the WTP3 system. B&G’s Performance Wind Filter and Motion Sensor provide the most stable and accurate data available outside of a WTP3 processor

Hercules Performance is for yachtsmen who are looking for accuracy, flexibility and performance. The installation of choice on many Superyachts. System specialists may also consider Hercules Motion or a bespoke solution utilising the B&G WTP3 system

Hercules was designed with high-level racing in mind, however racers or cruisers who demand higher performance and accuracy from their instrument system often choose this solution

Hydra systems are designed for committed cruising sailors and is seen on premium brand blue water cruisers and racer/cruisers. Its reputation for quality is second to none. This is the system if your sailing takes you offshore regularly

Select the most suitable sensors for your needs

Core sensors are Wind, Speed, Heading and Heel – these sensors provide critical inputs into many calculated functions, like True Wind Direction. Select the best for your application

Other sensors to consider are Barometer and Air Temperature for validating weather forecast data, Loadcells for rig monitoring

Select displays to suit your requirements

The type of displays you select, and their position on the boat, can make a huge difference to visibility and ease of use.

The HVision range offers four sizes of display for highly visible information, these are the classic mast displays – or use 10/10 HV as a cockpit repeater display

All B&G H3000 Pilots have the same features, the only difference is power capability. So to select the correct Pilot computer for your boat start with the drive unit required, then match the Pilot computer (ACP1 for T1 drives, ACP2 for T2 or T3 drives)

Data ModulesCompact data acquisition modules are designed to be positioned close to sensors or external devices to minimise both weight and inaccuracies caused by signal loss due to long cable lengths. Raw data is transmitted to the high-speed CAN networks for processing by the CPU.

Analogue modules can be used to interface up to 6 analogue devices, supporting a variety of input formats including +/- 5V and Event Buttons, along with up to 2 pulse inputs.

Serial modules interface with high-speed serial devices including GPS, Heading and Attitude sensors. Serial modules also provide digital I/0 ports for Event Buttons, allowing Man Overboard to be triggered via on-deck buttons.

LoadcellsUtilised for performance settings and safety monitoring, loadcells can be integrated into WTP via Fastnet, analogue or serial inputs depending on application.

Routing

The Optimum Routing module now includes the option to avoid areas with waves larger than a user set height – increasing speed and reducing the risk of damage to the boat offshore.

An enhanced graphics engine, including new layline options and shaded limit layline sectors, helps the navigator visualise wind shift limits when approaching a mark of the course.

Deckman’s wide set of features allows the navigator to optimise strategy and tactics whilst racing, and allow structured testing while tuning and training.

Start screen showing bias, layline and times

Inshore the Start screen - giving live updates of boat position, favoured end, gain/loss through line bias and time to line - is the key to consistently good starts. Add in the ability to quickly generate windward/leeward courses, track wind-shifts and overlay tidally adjusted laylines on the chart whilst assessing strategic options on future legs and you have a clear advantage on the race course.

A competitor handicap tool allows you to keep track of competitors in handicap events with race position calculations based on user input of mark rounding times.

Offshore the navigator’s focus is on the weather. Deckman provides the best optimum routing calculations available, as used to win all the classic ocean races.

Deckman allows the user to animate multiple GRIB weather files including wind, pressure, precipitation and wave height to visualise the weather forecast data. With UGRIB, OCENS Weathernet and Saildocs services integrated the navigator need never be more than a few clicks from the latest weather downloads.

Using the Optimum Routing module the navigator can calculate the fastest route, whilst also using wave avoidance to route around areas with dangerous wave heights. Reverse isochrones can be used, along with competitor tracking, to determine relative positions in the fleet.

Optimum routing

Other key features for offshore use include the use of multiple polar tables, one for performance targets, one for navigation – allowing the navigator to adjust one polar to be accurate for the actual performance of the yacht, while the crew strive to attain 100% performance based on their own polar.

Performance testing is possible via a suite of integrated data logging and analysis tools to allow accurate assessment of the performance of the yacht and crew under different conditions, during or after a race.

Time Plots with analysis tools

Single boat testing, such as a comparison of headsails, is accomplished by running Speed Tests to allow statistical comparison of one sail versus another, with a polar table overlay.

Multi boat campaigns utilise Deckman’s Two-Boat module to share data via a telemetry link, allowing wind-shift compensated performance comparison between yachts.

In either case Deckman’s integrated database logs all available data every second for 7 days, then at reduced frequency for a full year, allowing analysis of historical data against current performance.

Advanced Options

B&G Custom Projects can supply various advanced add-ins for Deckman, including Alarm Manager, T&T Reporter, Laser Range Finder and 2-Boat Telemetry modules. The Deckman Add-In interface allows 3rd party developers to integrate new functionality.

Normally a single-axis gyro is fixed in the plane of the boat, this means that when the boat is heeled the rate- gyro is susceptible to errors when the boat pitches fore and aft. The GRC solves this problem by gimballing the rate-sensor, ensuring that it is always measuring the true Yaw Rate, independent of any heel and trim effects.
