What is Airline Moves?Gatwick is growing fast and we need to have our biggest airlines positioned in the correct terminals so they can continue to grow and, more importantly, we want passengers to have the best possible experience when they fly from Gatwick. As a result, in January 2017, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and easyJet will be moving terminals.

Why is it such a big deal?We are investing £2.5 billion to transform Gatwick – eliminating queues and putting people in charge of their time here. Moving these three airlines is part of that transformation programme. It will provide fantastic new spaces, while also allowing Gatwick to look after its growing numbers of passengers. The moves in January are dependent on 42 separate construction projects. Most of these will not be seen by our passengers, however, there will be new crew reporting, engineering and operating bases.

What do passengers need to know?The most important thing is that people know which terminal to go to. We are working with these major airlines to make sure this information is given in multiple ways. Our main message is to check your ticket before you fly. For more details, Gatwick’s website has lots of useful information, as do the airlines’ websites. And if anyone finds themselves in the wrong terminal?

No problem, just jump on our transit shuttle which will take you to the other terminal in a few minutes.

How do people find out more?Signs around the airport will change, and extra staff will be in the terminals to help. We’re updating the Gatwick website and providing a dedicated section about the moves on the FAQs page, as well as regular updates via all our social media channels.

Any concerns about the moves?My priority is going to be attending to every detail in the move plan. We have a dedicated team of people working very hard behind the scenes. We all know that moving house can be challenging and that success depends on careful planning. It’s my job to make sure that happens.
