INTRODUCTION

General Electric was founded in 1878 under the name Edison Electric Light Company. This company was

the start of something extraordinary called the transmission of electronic currents to the masses. This form of

delivering electricity to all races, genders, and classes of people was ground breaking. To this day the GE

company has expanded their brand and product to diverse populations, countries, and industries using an array

of products and services to help clients from the health care industry, construction companies, and families

within society. Within GE diversity and innovation plays a vital role within their organization makeup.

Women Network

People make the world go around well so does women.

General Electric women’s network has helped women

from all walks of life to live better and to do well

within the work place. Ge stated, “The Women's

Network was created to accelerate the advancement of

women working at GE. By sharing information, best

practices, education, and experience, we help one

another develop the leadership skills and career

advancing opportunities needed to drive GE's success”

(GE, 2015). The women’s network creates joint

ventures and excellent business avenues for women to

travel forward on

HOW DOES DIVERSITY INFLUENCE INNOVATION WITHIN THE WORK PLACE AT ‘GE’

When you have innovation you will always have diverse populations of people. This meeting of the minds means people from

all spectrums and walks of life to innovate, “The success of diversity at GE is a reflection of the integrity of our leadership and

builds a strong foundation for future leaders to continue our tradition of inclusiveness. By bringing individuals, cultures and ideas

together we create a stronger company and a better world” (GE, 2015). When you have diversity you have people with a wider

RATIFICATIONS (CONTRAST AND

COMPARE)

When you compare GE to other companies their really is no

competition within their manufacturing class. Osram

Sylvania is the only other company that is as innovative as

GE currently. Sylvania is also a company that develops

products using light and electricity. Within the stock market

they have a number of other fortune 500 companies that

they compete against regarding wall street investors.

The ratifications of diversity are a

excellent organization with potential

DIVERSITY AREAS THAT MAY NEED IMPROVEMENT

General Electric really does not need any improvement within their diversity area, but the advice I would give

to General Electric is for them to keep the diversity doors open for all to seek opportunity, “With more than

300,000 employees and operations in over 140 countries, GE employees reflect both the local communities we

serve and the people with whom we do business. We see diversity and inclusiveness as an essential part of our

productivity, creativity, innovation and competitive advantage”(GE,2015). General electric will stay at the top of

their industry when it comes to revolutionary innovation within the health market and the development of

household items as long as they keep a diversity along with innovation on the top of their agenda.

THREE STEPS TO ELEVATE DIVERSITY

Culture

Cultural diversity plays a vital role within any

organization. In todays market it can lead to

innovative ideas and advancement for an

organization within different countries. By GE

expanding into diverse communities and countries it

helps with innovation and sales by creating a

networking channel to diverse nationalities and

people. Read Kiss Bow and Shake Hands for better

understanding of cultural differences when doing

business.

Communication

Communication is key! When you have diversity

you have diverse languages and cultural

differences. Communication leads to innovation

and excellent collaboration which in return creates

new business ventures .

Innovation

GE has ground breaking innovation that is taking place.

For General Electric to stay on top within their

classification in the manufacturing industry they must

stay innovative and keep the revolutionary products

flowing. General Electric new innovative technology

within the aviation, health care, restaurant

establishments, energy development, and household

product development has made them a billion dollar

company and from what I see there is no real challenge

or threat to the company, but except for hiring well

educated and talented employees to fill the needed

positions.

CONCLUSION

From innovation, creation, diversity, and sustainability. General Electric is a company that

has created revolutionary products and services that are within the mainstream of society’s

today. Being a millennium company that has been able to keep up with the ever changing

time and market has made them a company that has been able to stay above even through

the recessions eras. As long as General Electric keeps an innovative collaborative team of

people who are diverse within their culture and race they will always be an innovative

company that fabrications new, and cutting edge products for the population at hand.
