Mechanical Pressure Mechanical pressure gauges are mainly used in indus-
trial measuring applications for local measurements
and reading off the pressure. They have a simple,
robust and reliable design and do not require any ex-
ternal energy. They transmit the pressure through the
elastic deformation of a baffle wall within a pressure
chamber. This deformation is mechanically transferred
to the pressure display.
Mechanical pressure gauges are used in a wide pres-
sure range from 2.5 mbar to 1000 bar because of the
simple measuring principle and robust design. Mecha-
nical measuring equipment at LABOM is manufactured
according to EN 837.
LABOM diaphragm seals Diaphragm seals are partitions in pressure measuring instruments that prevent the measured medium from entering
the measuring system. This means that they protect the measuring equipment from aggressive, highly viscose or
congealing measured media and high measured medium temperatures, damping pressure fluctuations and pressure
peaks and increase overload resistance. In addition, they offer a solution in case of an unfavourable position of the
measuring point, and allow the use of pressure gauges in potentially explosive atmospheres as well as the elimination
of dead space when arranging measuring points.
The design of diaphragm seals can vary greatly depending on the measurement task they support: LABOM is con-
tributing to precise results and greater operating reliability with patented diaphragm types and customer-specific
designs for diaphragm seals.

Resistance sensors use the effect that the electrical resistance of a material changes depending on its
temperature. These changes of the resistance-value can be measured, and converted into a tempera-
ture value. Pt100/ Pt1000 resistance thermometers are used wherever high precision and low drift are
required.
Temperature transmitters already have a signal from the sensor (resistance value or voltage value in case
of thermocouple) on the input. This input is converted by the transmitter into a standard normsignal (mV
or mA). The transmitters are very compact, so that they can be build in, in the connection head of the
temperature probe, or mounted on a DIN-rail. These changes in resistance or voltage signals are conver-
ted by the measuring transmitter into superimposed standard signals. The design of measuring transmit-
ters is so compact that they can be incorporated in the connecting head of thermometers either on the
measuring insert instead of the ceramic base or in the cover of the head housing.
“Intelligent” digital measuring transmitters allow connection to all common Pt sensors and can be easily
parameterised online through a local interface or via HART or Profibus.

meter from the SITRANS F M product
family is to measure flow volume of
electrically conducting fluids such as
water, chemicals, food and beverage,
slurries, sludge, paper stock and

JUMO has been producing high-quality RTD temperature probes and thermocouples since the mid-1960s. Temperatures up to approximately 500°C are generally measured using RTD temperature probes. The platinum temperature sensor has established itself by ensuring a high degree of measuring accuracy and long-term stability. Thermocouples are suitable for measuring higher temperatures.
