In March 2007, SEIU Locals merged into one SEIU Local with five separate dues rates. A Unified Dues Structure was approved by Dues/Bylaws membership vote on November 1, 2009. The dues rate increase for Institute on Aging was to have increased from 1.45% to 1.5% of monthly gross wages effective January 1, 2012, after a negotiated general wage increase. The dues increase did not occur due to an administrative error. There will be no retroactive dues collected and the dues increase is effective on your first September paycheck. Example: Hourly wage $13.71 based on 80 hours worked, your dues will increase by $.55 per pay period. www.seiu521.org (408) 678-3300 August 2012 YOUR NEGOTIATION TEAM YOUR NEGOTIATION TEAM YOUR NEGOTIATION TEAM YOUR NEGOTIATION TEAM C ongratulations to the nominated negotiators: Ofaloto (Ofa) Langi, Atiloa (Loa) Atiloa Fakalata, Faatele (Tele) Taupau and Fipe Vea. Contract Action Team (CAT)

O ne of the things you can do to help the Bargaining Team is volunteering to be on our Contract Acon

Team (CAT). Contract Acon Team members help the bargaining team communicate and coordinate

acons to the rest of our members. Please contact Internal Organizer [email protected] and/or

call 650 801-3500 if you wish to parcipate on the CAT.

The primary purposes of a grievance procedure are to: 1. Channel conflict into an institutionalized mechanism for peaceful resolution;

2. Facilitate communication between labor and management regarding problems that arise in a collective bargaining relationship;

3. Enable employees to complain with dignity knowing that there is a system of appeals leading to an impartial decision-maker; and

4. Enforce compliance with the terms and conditions negotiated by the parties.

If you have any questions please contact your Steward.
