When we think of icons, we conjure up images of people, places and things that withstand the test of time, symbolizing our beliefs, culture and community. Greenbuild 2016 celebrates the icons of our movement. Those who are working in the trenches today, and those who are in line to take up the banner and lead the way into the future.

Plan now to join us for an epic celebration at

GREENBUILD 2016: Iconic Green in Los Angeles, California.A special thank you to our host committee, USGBC-LA

SPECIAL EVENTSGREENBUILD PLENARY & CELEBRATIONThursday, October 6 | 6:30 PM - 11:30 PMPractice across multiple disciplines. Policy across every facet of government. People with ideas, influence and inspiration. These are the pillars of our movement and celebrating the icons who advance and define them is the essence of Greenbuild. Against the backdrop of polarized body politics in the US and political and social upheaval across the globe, California’s popular Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom, USGBC’s outgoing CEO Rick Fedrizzi, and other powerful voices will deliver a fast-paced, passion-filled discussion about the issues of our times: climate change, social equity and the profound need for environmental focus in every corner of the globe.

CLOSING PLENARYFriday, October 7 | 11:00 AM - 12:30 PMGreenbuild’s closing plenary is always about “what’s next?” and this year that question has special resonance as incoming USGBC CEO Mahesh Ramanujam prepares to take the reins. He’ll share his perspective on how the next chapter of USGBC will leverage the momentum of the market transformation underway to accelerate the adoption of a sustainable mindset across geographic borders, business sectors and diverse stakeholders. He’ll be joined onstage by BIG founder Bjarke Ingels, who leads his multi-cultural, multi-talented team of architects, designers, builders and thinkers right to the heart of the “fertile overlap” between the pragmatic and the utopian to deliver stunning projects that are as technically innovative as they are cost- and resource-conscious. We’re excited to welcome him to the closing plenary stage to give us his take on how we need to change our world view so we can create a world more responsive to our contemporary lives.
