Your Leeds Fertility "TRANSFORMING LIVES... BUILDING FAMILIES" Milestone moment We are very close to our 100,000th patient! Our journey to where we are today has been amazing. We were established in 2010 from the amalgamation of two successful units in Leeds based at the LGI and St James which were both established in the very early 90’s. Our journey has also seen us move to our purpose built "state of the art" home here at Seacroft Hospital, and be joined by some of the world's leading fertility experts, including Professor Adam Balen. Dr Anthony Rutherford, who led the merger in 2010 and has been undertaking fertility treatment in Leeds since 1991, said; "It's wonderful! "Over the last few weeks the team have looked at the patient numbers which go back to 1991, and now we are really close to 100,000. However, as we treat all patients equally and confidentially, the actual patient will never know their place in our history, but we are so proud to make this milestone. "The numbers keep mounting up, it's remarkable. We have seen 100,000 patients, helped create over 15,000 families (since 2010), and undertake over 1500 IVF cycles a year. It's a joy to work here". WHO WE ARE We are one of the largest and most comprehensive fertility services in the UK. How to have a child like NoahWe featured in an amazing show on Stray FM in January. A fascinating interview saw previous patients, Faye and Ash Milson, talk about their fertility journey. From highlighting the emotional issues of how to support each other, to discussing the barriers of talking about infertility with their friends, Faye and Ash tracked their journey to the success of having Noah. Throughout the interview, which also featured Professor Balen discussing how common fertility issues are (over 15% of couples have them), their four month old son Noah, slept peacefully. To hear the show and read the article, visit; www.strayfm.com under news and family.

EVENTSOpen Evening - On the first Wednesday of the month, we have a free open evening starting at 6.30pm. Anyone is welcome to join us and learn more about what we do and ask questions.

Raising awarenessProfessor Balen was on the "Doctor, Doctor Show" on West Yorkshire radio station Fever FM (9th Feb). In a packed two hour show, Professor Balen discussed how people can improve their fertility. by some very simple good health advice, and by looking after themselves. Professor Balen said; "Good diet and exercise are so important to help fertility, as well as no smoking and limited alcohol intake". There is some great advice on the link between health and fitness to support fertility, on the Fertility Network website www.fertilitynetworkuk.org
