ENO Chorister: Mezzo/ Tenor

A chorister is a member of the chorus of English National Opera,having as its main function the production and creation of opera,including concert performances, and music theatre, in all their forms tothe highest possible standards, and the education and development ofthe audiences for the art form.

The job involves a commitmentto the artistic integrity of the chorus, aswell as giving the opportunity of personal development throughtrainingand the opportunity for playing and coveringsolo roles.

Organisational Relationships:

The chorus is part of the Music Department. The chorister is responsibleto the Chorus Manager, who is, in turn, responsible to the MusicDirector. The Chorus Master, supported by the Assistant ChorusMaster, is responsible for the musical and artistic output of the chorus,and is also responsible to the MusicDirector.

The

role

• Rehearse, sing, perform (including acting and dancing) and understudy (including all stagingrequirements).

• To participate inall choruswork includingwork with our ENO BaylisProgramme.

• Prepare and learn music as necessary and appropriate; rehearse music as required duringmusicand / or production / stage calls.

• Rehearse with the Director (including Staff Directors, Choreographers, FightArrangers etc.) in rehearsal rooms, studios, on stage, or at any other venue.

• Rehearse and perform in the London area (i.e. at the London Coliseum) or at anyother venue withina 20 mile radius of Charing Cross.

• Undertake recordings for audio/visualuse inENO liveperformances.

• Wear costume, wigs and make - up when and as directed at stage rehearsals andperformances; wear rehearsal/practice costumes as necessary at productionrehearsals.

• Maintain his/hervoiceto an optimumprofessional standard.

• Undertake wigs and wardrobe fittingsas required.

• Undertake trainingand development.

• Participate in appraisals.

• Take part in ENO concerts,and other eventspromoted by ENO,or its subsidiary companies.

• Tour in the U.K.and abroad as required.

• Take part in audio and visual recordings and relays of rehearsals and / or performances.

• Undertake, where required, a variety of chorusduties duringany call.

• Undertake any other appropriate duties as defined by the Chorus Manager.
