“Wow. I was incredibly impressed with the level of service, attention to detail, coach drivers, crew on board the Milford Wanderer and just the way that nothing is an issue for your staff.
Our group was so blown away by the whole experience that many said this was the best supplier trip they have ever been on and will have a lifetime of memories to take away.”
Steve O’Connor - Regional Business Manager L’Oreal New Zealand Milford Sound Overnight Cruise Charter
“Real Journeys were very supportive of our event from start to finish - which was only made possible by the goodwill of the company. All staff we dealt with from management to those on the ground were incredibly supportive and enthusiastic, a tribute to a large and successful company that maintains its core values derived from humble beginnings.”
Adam Fairmaid - GodZone Event Organiser GodZone Adventure Race Milford Sound & Queenstown transport
“Just wanted to say a big thank you to you and your team for such a fantastic night on Friday - couldn’t have gone better. You’ve been wonderful to deal with and we’re over the moon on how the event went.”
Kyla Davies - VIP & Hospitality Manager Winter Games NZ TSS Earnslaw Wharf Side Event
“Real Journeys not only have incredible products, but they are also a pleasure to work with. I have had the opportunity to work with many of their products over the years and they have all been wonderful experiences. One in particular was to Stewart Island for a group of 90 guests. Stewart Island is a wonderland of natural scenery, native wildlife and scenic activities. Real Journeys supported many of our activities including a private boat transfer to the Island. The day was flawless and this trip will be talked about by our guests long into the future.”

Lying beneath the mountains on Lake Te Anau’s western shores, the Te Anau Glowworm Caves are a subterranean network lit by thousands of glowworms. This underground world is astonishingly beautiful. By geological standards the caves are very young (12,000 years) and are still being carved out by the force of the river that flows through them. The result is twisting limestone passages filled with sculpted rock, whirlpools and a roaring underground waterfall.
Deep inside the caves, beyond the noise of the water, thousands of glowworms inhabit a silent hidden grotto. They produce a glittering display that is truly extraordinary.

Discovery Cruises (Multi-Day) ConservationReal Journeys has been nationally recognised for conservation efforts and is a past winner of the New Zealand Tourism Industry “Conservation in Action Award.”We work closely with the Department of Conservation on environmental projects. Current sponsorship efforts include protecting whio (blue ducks) near Milford Sound and research into Stewart Island’s rare harlequin gecko. Our staff are also actively involved in pest trapping in Milford Sound and Stewart Island to reduce predation of native birds.
Every year, our passengers contribute over $50,000 to the Leslie Hutchins Conservation Foundation via a levy on our Doubtful Sound operations. Projects funded by this foundation include educational trips for local children, stoat-control programmes and native bird transfers.
The wild south beckons! Real Journeys operates extended cruises exploring some of the most isolated and beautiful regions in New Zealand. A multi-day Discovery Cruise takes you on an exploration of Fiordland or Stewart Island, delving into the rich natural and human histories of the regions. You get to reach out and touch the stunning landscapes with opportunities to disembark and explore relics of settlements long past.
Cruise in Captain Cooks wake and trace the same route he took during his historic 1773 voyage. Visit the stunning southern fiords that attracted early sealers, whalers and miners, exploring the remnants of their settlements and other key spots such as the island sanctuary of New Zealand’s first conservationist Richard Henry.
The Milford Wanderer is a modern motorised vessel that has been purpose built for navigating southern New Zealand waters. Designed along the lines of a traditional sailing scow, it has old world charm combined with modern facilities and the latest in safety equipment.
Discovery Cruises are available for charter and group bookings representing a great incentive option. We can tailor cruises to suit your requirements and include team building sessions, or arrange guest speakers.
Real Journeys is committed to operating in an environmentally sustainable way and we are actively working to reduce emissions and minimise our carbon footprint. Efforts to improve are ongoing - if you have any suggestions we welcome your feedback
