WLBS – WORLD LADIES BILLIARDS AND SNOOKER

WLBS hosts a variety of tournaments where all standards are welcome. We encourage new players and offer with new membership, free entry to your first WLBS event.

WLBS has hundreds of playing members world-wide with the youngest nine years old and the eldest being ninety.

WLBS has had no fewer than eighteen nationalities competing in the Ladies World Championship which is held annually. Former winners such as Reanne Evans and Ng On Yee have gone on to compete and win in tournaments on the World Snooker Professional Tour.

World Ladies Billiards & Snooker is responsible for women’s Snooker and Billiards and the World Ladies ranking list.

ENGLISH BILLIARDS

English Billiards (as it is correctly known) is played with three balls on a 12ft x 6ft table the same as snooker. It is one of the oldest sports in the world, with the World Championship dating back to 1870 and the English Championship to 1888.

Currently World Billiards Ltd organises around 14 world ranking events, from Canada to New Zealand and Australia to Ireland, plus a number of UK based events. To see

Our events cater for all standards and are open to anyone to enter. They are played in some of the best venues around the world.

World Disability Billiards And Snooker (WDBS) is an organisation which has been created to give more people with disabilities the opportunity to play cue sports.

WDBS aim to achieve this through:

We run a number of Tour Events open to all ages of player, the showcase being the English Ranking Series that attracts the best amateurs and aspiring professionals in the country. Our Junior events are structured to prepare your players to compete at the highest level.

The EAsB run national and regional snooker and Billiards events at the best club venues around the country for all players of English residency. Prize money is paid at all events and many of our events lead to qualification to play for England in Home International, European and World Amateur snooker championships. our events are run by EAsB qualified Tournament Directors and referees.

CHAmPIonsHIP EvEnTs

As well as the English Amateur Championship we also run Junior championship events for under 14, under 16, under 18 and under 21’s. There is a Seniors Championship for players over 40 and even a 6 Reds Championship. These competitions are 1 day regional qualifying events followed by National Finals.

CUE ZONE INTO SCHOOLS IS THEWORLD PROFESSIONAL BILLIARDSAND SNOOKER ASSOCIATIONS (WPBSA) WORLDWIDE GRASS ROOTSDEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME; ITS MAIN OBJECTIVE IS TO DEVELOP THEGAME OF SNOOKER WITHIN SCHOOLSAND COMMUNITIES. HOW IT WORKS

Once a school has chosen its route they will be visited by an experienced and qualifi ed WPBSA World Snooker Coach who will undertake an introduction on how to play functional snooker

A place will be arranged on a coaching course for a nominated member of staff, which will include full hotel accommodation and all course resources and the opportunity to achieve full WPBSA coaching status which opens up opportunities to attend coaching seminars throughout the year and take children to snooker events as rewards for their achievements.

The schools receive necessary support on an on going basis in order to develop its Cue Zone.

INTRODUCTION

The concept called functional snooker has proved successful in developing community cohesion for young and old who are abled bodied, disadvantaged or disabled. It also supports those who have failed or are failing at school through attendance, low achievement with Maths andEnglish or behavioural issues. The WPBSA believes everyone should be given the opportunity to take up snooker.
