LEADER GUIDE Hacked Week 4 Your Choices—Your Future The Point The choices you make today determine who you become tomorrow. Leader Notes It’s easy for teenagers to have a hard time determining what the best choice for them is relative to their future. Help your students understand the decisions they make today will determine who they become in the future, and the decisions they make now do, in fact, matter. Talk It Over Switch Group Questions 1. Icebreaker: If you could choose any job you wanted as an adult, what would you do and why? 2. What did you think of this week’s episode of Hacked? What did you like about it? What stood out to you? What’s something you can take away from today? 3. What is a big choice you made in your past (either good or bad) that made you who you are today? Why did you make that choice then, and why do you think it made you who you are now? 4. What are some good choices you’re making right now that you know will be good for your future? Why do you make those good choices? 5. What are some not-so-good choices you’re making right now that you know might not help you in your future? Why do you make those choices? 6. Do you think the choices you make in your life today will impact your future? Why do you think that, or why not? 7. Look up and read Proverbs 16:9. What do you think this passage means? How does this apply to what we’re talking about? 8. What do you think it means to choose God’s standards for your life? What would that look like for you? 9. What’s one of the biggest choices you could make right now that will gave you the best results for your future? How can you go about making that happen? 1. What are some choices you’re making right now that will impact your life positively? Now talk about some choices you’re making that could impact your life negatively. Why are you making those choices? 3. Do you honestly think and believe that when we choose what God wants for our lives they’ll be better? Why or why not? 4. If you do believe that, what would you say are the biggest choices God wants us to make for our lives? Why do you think that? 5. If you don’t believe that, what would you say are the biggest choices we can make for our own lives that will benefit us most? Why do you think that? 6. Look up and read Proverbs 16:9. What do you think this passage means? How does this apply to what we’re talking about? 7. Are the choices you’re making now godly choices and helping you live life to the fullest? Why or why not? If not, what can you do about that? 8. What do you think God wants you to become in your future? Why do you think that? 9. What’s one of the biggest choices you could make right now that will help you become who God wants you to be in your future? How can you go about making that happen? Lead Small Partner with parents. Have your students tell their parents what their one choice they want to make now to impact their future later will be. If you’re able, talk to their parents about that, and help the parents be the ones to hold their students accountable for making it happen.

Help your students understand the decisions they make today will determine who they become in the future, and the decisions they make now do, in fact, matter.
