It has been a fabulous beginning of summer here

in the northwest for 2014. I hope your sales are reflecting

the energy that seems to be resonating here lately. Even

though the weather is nice most of us do not get to sit

back and relax and enjoy it. The chamber is no exception. The staff and

volunteers are working hard to promote our chamber members and the

Silverdale community. We have a great raffle going right now, “No Dishes

for a Week.” Make sure you buy or sell some tickets. Our luncheons have

been fantastic lately. Great speakers, good attendance, fabulous prizes,

etc. If you have not been to a luncheon lately put the last Wednesday of

each month on your calendar. This month we will be at Arena Sports Bar

and Grille, having our annual carnival luncheon to support the Education

Committee's scholarship program. It is always a fun event. Please contact

the chamber directly if you want to RSVP or get more involved.

Happy Summer!

Kathleen Says . . .

I recently attended the Kitsap Business Forum entitled

“What does Tourism have to do with me”. I left thinking

about the effects of “local” tourism on Silverdale and our

surrounding communities. How can we work together to

cross promote each community? First we need to know what is available in

our region to help promote each other. It is no secret that the most positive

benefit of tourism is the income that it brings into local businesses. Tourism

brings new businesses, job opportunities, and new residents! Each year

tourists come to the Kitsap Peninsula to enjoy our hiking, water ways and

so much more. The staff of the Silverdale Chamber of Commerce and Visi-

tors Center work to promote the area as an attractive tourism destination to

visitors. We work hard to be a leader in the economic development of

Kitsap County by attracting and servicing visitors, generating income, jobs

and tax revenues which make the community a better place to live

and visit.”
