Your Business Is Like A Bicycle Like
Any Machine It Needs Maintenance
Your Business Needs Lubrication Your business has a lot of moving parts that need to work together as a team. When it starts to get
sluggish, it is time to get in a corporate motivational speaker and get them working together again.
The Tires (Order Processing)
This group is where it meets the streets. They take what you offer and deliver it. They also get all the
blame for problems. If you do not give them proper support and motivation they can go flat. What you
need is to give them praise and proper management because without them you are going nowhere.
The Bike Chain (Production)
If the order processing is where the rubber hits the road. The Production department is the chain that
drives the tire. You need to keep production moving efficiently. The people are not machines and need to
be given respect also. Treat your production team like people and they will give you years of faithful
service and higher efficiency. Make sure your managers treat them well.
The Gears (Sales and Marketing)
You have two teams that work to drive your business forward. Here is where you need them to work
together. The marketing brings the prospective customer to your sales team. Now they need to do this at
the right point of the sales cycle. Pass them on to early and the sales department will waste time on people
not ready to be sold.
The sales department helps guide the client from having a need to having a solution. If you do not tie both
to productivity, you are wasting your resources. Do not pit them against each other.
The Frame (The Clerical Staff)
The clerical staff of your business is what holds it all together. They process, type, file and in every little
way keep things running. Treat all your employees with respect and your company will grow.
The Handlebars (Executives)
The executives steer your organization and keep you on the right path. They are your voice and hands in
guiding the entire organization. Squabbling amongst them can definitely cause a crash.
The Rider (Owner/CEO)
You need to take that bike on a race course and win. That is your job. When all the rest of the bike is
working great, it still needs a leader. A leader who has the vision of where the bike is going and how to
get there.
Team Building (Corporate Trainer)
To keep the company running smoothly you need to bring in a specialist in team building. They can help
keep all the parts feeling involved and needed. If you make each part feel important they will give you
their best.
