You can be “canonized!” The Oregon Shakespeare Festival is committed to producing the complete works of William Shakespeare. Traditionally, we have accepted that the Shakespeare canon includes the 36 plays found in the First Folio and Pericles. Since our beginning in 1935, countless patrons have completed their personal canon, and many have seen most or all of the plays at OSF. How many plays have you seen? How many more to complete the canon? Get your canon certificate Inside is a list of OSF’s production history. Just check the title of the play and circle the year you saw it, or note another production you have seen. When you’ve completed your canon, go to our website at www.osfashland.org/canon and print out your certificate of completion. Did you know . . . ? • OSF produced Shakespeare exclusively until 1959. Since opening in 1935, OSF has completed the canon three times: in 1958 (with Troilus and Cressida), 1978 (with Timon of Athens) and 1997 (also with Timon of Athens). During his tenure as producing director, OSF founder Angus L. Bowmer produced the entire canon, directed 29 Shakespearean productions and performed 32 Shakespearean roles in 43 separate stagings. The Merchant of Venice and Twelfth Night were the first two OSF productions in 1935. Earlier that year, Bowmer directed Merchant at Southern Oregon Normal School and toured the same production to Klamath Falls. Since 2008, actors of color have comprised over 30% of the OSF acting company. www.osfashland.org 800-219-8161 541-482-4331 Para información en español: 541-482-2111 ext. 295 15 S.
