Our fibre cable system

Europe-Persia Express Gateway The Europe-Persia Express Gateway (EPEG) is an alternative, high-speed cable system which provides additional connectivity between Europe and the Middle East.

The EPEG cable system will provide a major alternative cable route from Oman to Europe. At present, cables mainly

go through Egypt and the Gulf of Suez. However, with this alternative route from Oman to Germany, telecom operators will get an alternative option to existing routes.

The system passes from Frankfurt across Eastern Europe, Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran and the Persian Gulf to Barka, Sultanate of Oman. As a Tier 1 investor in the Europe-

Persia Express Gateway, Vodafone Carrier Services offers robust and reliable network connectivity through a next-generation cable system.

In order to meet the growing demand for bandwidth between these regions, the Europe-Persia Express Gateway terrestrial cable offers high-speed, low latency connectivity with the latest technology to meet growing demand for bandwidth between these regions.

The new system was launched with an initial capacity of 540 (54×10) Gbps and was put in operation in December, 2012. The design capacity of the EPEG system is up to 3.2 Tbps with a total length of approximately 10,000 km, and about 9,500 km of it is a terrestrial fibre cable.
