Asia Pacific’s children and youth are especially vulnerable amidst cross-cutting water issues.

•Many young girls spend their days fetching water instead of going to school or in more value-generatingschool or in more value-generating work.

The region is home to the biggest proportion of unemployed youth (36.4 million)

and youth who are working poor (152 million), majority of whom work in agriculture.

Thousands of children die each day of waterborne diseases due to unsafe water and lack ofto unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation facilities.
