Background

Young Network is a Registered network of NGO’s in Rajasthan who seek

space for long term creative expression, development and social

upliftment of the society, building channels for their work potential.

Young Network is a network of like-minded non-governmental

organizations that are undertaking the task of working on the role of

NGOs which is essential in building resilience of local communities to

sustained development and supporting local level implementation and

action. The establishment of such a network will facilitate the

development of strategic partnerships with NGOs, Corporate, Local

administration, Funding agencies and PRIs aimed at addressing issues

at the sub-national and community level.

Goal

The overarching goal for building the “Network of NGOs” is to

contribute to the growing development effort to reduce the funding

problems, communication gap between stakeholders and improve

process of transference development to build sustained communities in

the Tonk district of Rajasthan .

Short term Objectives

• To provide a platform for NGOs to share experience and dialogue for concerted actions to promote various development issues and policies, especially at the community level.

• To promote cooperation among NGOs through information sharing, knowledge exchange and capacity building.

• To enhance knowledge transfer from local to global levels, and vice versa, in order to build the capacities of communities.

• To encourage an active role by NGOs in mainstreaming development.

• To increase the voice of NGO concerns and the visibility of NGOs’ contribution to the ongoing effort to implement various developmental policies regarding poverty, disaster risk reduction, health and education.

• To facilitate NGOs’ access to global resources (knowledge, skills, networks, partnerships, funding, etc.) for developmental issues, policies and related activities.

Long Term Objectives

• To diffuse knowledge and information, aiming at activating, motivating and promoting the cause and welfare of rural poor, groups, organization and institution.

• To work towards creating a platform for education and exchange of ideas by bringing Govt., Semi-Govt., Corporate, autonomous body and other institutes involved in development process.

• To initiate debates, discussions and actions on the issues concerning scheduled caste, scheduled tribes, women and other weaker section in the light of the experience of the members and seek necessary changes in the policies, strategies, regulations, methods of the govt., aimed at equitable distribution of resources and social justice.

• To help the members with advice and other resources, in raising funds, and to act as liaison between members, government and donor agencies (national and international) whenever and wherever necessary.

• To establish contact and to affiliate with other organizations, (national and international), having similar objects as of the Network.

• To work on all aspects of natural resource management viz. land, water, forest and create models in Rajasthan context.

Long Term Objectives

•To promote and ensure role of local bodies, Gram Panchayats in developmental process and their deep involvement on livelihood related issues.

•To work with rural communities on health issues to further the sustainability of community health services and mobilize the rural people towards self-sufficiency.

•To unite women within village communities, to raise their self esteem and provide them outlets for creativity and expression.

•To create an environment, which is conducive for the eradication of social evils, obstacles facing rural education and to focus on providing education that is pertinent to rural life.

Structure and Internal functioning of the Network

The structure of the network reflects the collective identity of its members.

The NETWORK is characterized by a centrally linked structure with a two-way

system of communication between the bodies and organs in the structure.

The key elements for the functioning of the bodies of the network are:

division of responsibilities, accountability, transparency and dedication to the

work.

The members reached consensus about the need for and responsibilities of

the following bodies: administrative center, Executive body, network

coordinator, hosts for coordinative meetings and working groups/teams as

part of the Executive body, which are responsible for various issues.
