you shine the brightest when you lighten up
Susan Stewart blends the wit and wisdom she’s known for with powerful messages about not taking life too seriously. In her stand-up comedy style, Susan shares how to see the lighter side of life as a tool to lower stress, foster strong mental health, and be more resilient in the face of adversity and uncertainty.
Professionally speaking, Susan has taken a winding road. After earning a Theatre Arts degree from the University of Waterloo, Susan moved to Toronto to pursue a career in stand-up comedy. Three years into her comedy career, Susan began battling depression and anxiety which eventually led her to quit performing. When Susan got back on her feet, she wanted to know “how the other half lived" and get a “real job” which led her to landing a position in a Human Resources department in the Ontario Government. (It's okay, you can laugh - it's funny!)
A year into her new (and very unexpected!) HR career, Susan was asked to create and deliver a comical presentation about wellness for an upcoming staff professional development conference. Susan’s presentation was a smash-hit and as they say, the rest is history. Susan eventually left her HR career to return to the stage full-time and use her comedic powers for good, rather than evil.
Since 2008, Susan has been traveling across North America making audiences laugh with her hilarious observations about life and sharing ways to meet adversity with a positive outlook, and of course, a sense of humour.
