The harvest is the end of the world (SR 379). Would it be any wonder, then, that some will look at the church and see that it appears rather rough and untidy because of the tares that are pre- sent? Would this be a reason to form a ministry declaring that the tares should be weeded out prior to the harvest? Not according to 2 SM 68-69 where we are told that we are not to do this work, but we are to leave it with Jesus (Mahew 13:28-29). He wants to give opportunity for the wheat to make a final decision to remain wheat and for tares to declare themselves as weeds forever. In Ezekiel 33:19 we see that the tares also have an oppor- tunity to become wheat, while in verse 18 the “wheat” may choose to commit iniquity and be lost. Jesus says, “Leave that work to me and I will do the harvesting at the end of the world. The Spirit of Prophecy (AA 90) goes on to explain that the church will appear enfeebled and defective, but is still the object of God’s supreme regard. May we have the aitude of God, accompanied by love and prayers, for a church that contains weeds and wheat and may not look perfect until Jesus comes. Hundreds of people responded to God’s call for rededication and two deacons requested rebaptism. Two churches left messages asking us to extend our schedule to include them on this tour of duty, but we were unable to do so. We also had an offer to translate You Can Survive! into Romanian. Cabin Burned The cabin we affectionately referred to as Dandy -Lyin’ for the past 35 years burned last month while we were away on our speaking tour. A young man was staying there who is helping Jed with farm projects. No one was hurt, but the loss is financially ($10,000 plus a brand-new Flame View cook stove!) and emotionally difficult. This is the original cabin that held our belongings when we first moved to the Peace Country. We have begun the process of rebuilding Dandy-Lyin’ and know the Lord is in the business of restoration. If you would like to help this young man, please forward your offering to us at Box 840, Chetwynd, BC V0C 1J0. Garden Saved by a Miracle The first part of August, neighbours began telling us sad stories of grasshoppers demolishing not only their entire garden but decorative plants in their window boxes and patio pots as well! We kept watch- ing our garden for damage, wondering when the plague would hit us and we would not have enough food for our Family Camp guests. Just before Family Camp, when Linda went out to pick some raspberries for breakfast she noticed an abundance of robins that morn- ing. As she watched the robins enthu- siastically aacking the grasshop- pers in the garden she realized that the Lord was answering our prayers for protection in a very special way! Those of you at our 2010 Family Camp will recall that in spite of draught conditions during July and August our garden held an abun- dant harvest. We had bumper crops of greens (with no grasshopper holes!), extra large onions, and turnips the size of soccer balls! We thank the Lord for strengthening our faith that He will still perform mira- cles to protect His children in the times when all we have to eat is what we grow.
