ARRESTED BY THE F.B.I.

Jack Roland Murphy orMurf the Surf

He was involved with a robbery on October

29, 1964, of the Star of India along with

several other precious gems, including the

Eagle Diamond and the de Long Ruby.

This robbery was called the "Jewel Heist of

the Century." It targeted the J.P. Morgan

jewel collection from the display cases of

New York's American Museum of Natural

History.

The FBI arrested Murph the Surf in Miami

and recovered the Star of India

In 1968, he was convicted of first-degree

murder of Terry Rae Frank, 24, a California

secretary, one of two women whose bodies

were found in Whiskey Creek near

Hollywood, Florida, in 1967. He also was

convicted of trying to rob a Miami Beach

woman in 1968. He was sentenced to life inprison in Florida.

McLemore visited Florida State prison in 1974,

as part of a Bill Glass Champions for Life week-

end, Murphy was impressed with the visitors,

both world champion athletes and local business-

men. At that time Murphy had an earliest parole

date of Nov. 2225, but that weekend changed hisattitude and he devoted his future time spent in

prison to serving a higher cause.

The Bible tells us.. "ForChrist also died for sins

once for all, the just forthe unjust, in order thatHe might bring us to

God..." ( I Peter 3:18 )

The purpose of Christ'scoming to earth was to

give us the way toobtain eternal life,

through trust in Him.

"If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, andthe truth is not in us. If we say that we have notsinned, we make Him a liar." ( I John 1:8-10 )

"He that believes(trusts) not the Son (as personalSavior) shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideson him." ( John 3:36 )

Lord, I confess I am a sinner. I recognize that I can

do nothing to save myself form an eternity in hell.

Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I now

trust in you (Jesus Christ) to be my personal Savior

and Lord of my life, and hereby commit my life to youfor all eternity.

Hoover and Zimbalist remained mutual admirers

for the rest of Hoover's life. Hoover would laterhold Zimbalist up as an image role model for

F.B.I. employees to emulate in their personal ap-pearance. Zimbalist was named an honorary spe-

cial agent in 2009 - the FBI's highest civilian

Zimbalist is now a born-again Christian. He says

his conversion came while watching Trinity

Broadcasting Network, first for chuckles but

eventually hearing the Lord's voice and be-coming a believer.

He later hosted a daily five-minute program on

TBN, in which he read selected passages fromthe Bible.

In his autobiography,My Dinner of Herbs,

Zimbalist refused to "dish dirt" on Hollywood.He borrowed the book's title from Proverbs15:17:

"Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a

stalled ox and hatred therewith."
