RTFCU is PROUD TO ANNOUNCE OUR FIRST STUDENT RUN CREDIT UNION

Logo Design: Aaron DiMezzo

The Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting was held March 18’Th at R.F.A. in the Knight Spot . Joey Campbell, RFA

Student Branch President cuts the ribbon with help from (left to right): John Vero R.T.F.C.U. President, Mackenzie

D’Aiuto, Aaron DiMezzo, Collin Hetherington, Dominique LaMay & Tracy Worden R.T.F.C.U. Manager.

Cake and refreshments were enjoyed by Mayor Joseph Fusco, Board Members, School Administrators, Student

Branch Volunteers & their families, R.T.F.C.U. Board Members, C.E.O. and staff.

The RFA Student Credit Union began its

first day of operation Mar. 4’Th in Rome

Free Academy’s Knight Spot.

RTFCU & RFA have partnered together to

provide students with the opportunity to

work as credit union employees in a real

credit union setting, while receiving

“hands-on” experience. Student Branch

employees are processing deposits, with-

drawals, accepting membership applica-

tions & opening new accounts, as well as

cash & check balancing functions. Stu-

dents will also have the advantage of mar-

keting their student branch.

Students who visit the in-school branch

will be able to open a savings account

with incentives, and have the option of a

checking account with ATM / Debit Card.

Students will be able to maintain their

own accounts by using transaction forms,

keeping an account register, and having

the opportunity to reconcile their accounts

with a bank statement. These opportuni-

ties will help build knowledge and confi-

dence in finances while preparing them for

college and the financial decisions they

will face as adults.

Our hope is to help students advance in

financial knowledge & understanding,

teach good money management skills & in

doing so build financial awareness,

responsibility, and credit worthiness.

A special “Thanks” to Tracy Thielman & Jenna DeBlasiis for capturing our

event!

KEEP YOUR PIN TO

YOURSELF

Just because you usually use your debit card in

public places doesn’t mean you’re always safe.

Information/ identify theft can take place just

about any time or anywhere – at an ATM, in your

favorite coffeehouse, or when you’re buying

something online. Keep your PIN a secret. Mem-

orize your PIN, and never write it on your card or

store it with your card. Don’t give your PIN over

the phone. No company or person should ever

ask for your PIN, not even your credit union or

bank. If you use your debit card to make a pur-

chase; whether by phone, in store, or at the gas

pump do not give your PIN. Just choose the

“Credit” option.

Practice your own security measures with on-line

shopping. Look for secure transaction symbols

such as the “lock logo” in the lower right corner

of your Web browser window and Web address-

es that start with “https.” Also, make sure to log-

off after you complete your online purchase.

Always Choose The CREDIT Option
