YOU NEED DISCONNECT & FIND FOCUS TIME TO THRIVE

YOUR CORE NEEDS

Expression - As an Oracle, you generally have a LOT going on in

your head, and you are driven to fi nd ways to express those things,

particularly in a way that others can connect with. You’re likely to

have very high standards for this expression. Seek out small ways

to express yourself on a regular basis so you’re not withholding

everything for a big idealised “perfect” project — in most cases you

need lots of smaller experiences with a form of expression before you

can produce something truly excellent.

Making connections to follow one idea to its natural conclusion. You naturally make connections between many data points and then

zoom way into one specifi c context when a pattern of information

interests you. You’re able to take one idea incredibly far, while others

get bored and distracted and move on to other things. You tend to

spend a signifi cant length of time focusing on one idea before you

Page 2: YOU ARE THE ORACLE! - s3.amazonaws.comResults/BT-Oracle.pdf · YOU ARE THE ORACLE! YOU NEED DISCONNECT & FIND FOCUS TIME TO THRIVE YOUR CORE NEEDS Expression - As an Oracle, you generally

move onto the next—it’s not unlikely that you will ponder one main

idea for years at a time.

Meaning - As an Oracle, you may fi nd it nearly impossible to take

anything at face value. The meaning you search for and fi nd throughout

your life is a big driving factor for the choices you make and the path

your life follows. Particularly, fi nding meaning and then expressing it

in a way other people can connect with can be very satisfying for you.

Security - Managing everyday tasks can take more energy for an

Oracle because of the sheer amount of thoughts fl ying around in

your head at any given moment. At best, it’s distracting. At worst,

having to worry about existing in the real world can fi ght against your

need for self-expression. Where possible, fi nd ways to get mundane

practicalities taken care of automatically, by others, or with minimal

energy, so that you can create space to focus on expression.

Mastery - Oracles tend to be perfectionists, and would love to

achieve true mastery, but often struggle to pick one thing to master.

It’s probably hard for you to commit to permanently hard-wiring

your brain to be good at just one thing. Many Oracles end up being

fairly skilled in a few different areas because they spend a signifi cant

period of time investing themselves deeply into each thing. Steve Jobs

is an excellent example of how this can end up forming the basis for

a unique specialization. Don’t assume that you need to have a single

narrow focus on one thing for decades to be masterful at something.

Instead, try pursuing the things you love for the sake of enjoyment,

and keep your eye out for ways to bring it all together in the future.

YOUR SUPERPOWERS

Filling in the gaps. In any conversation, you easily see what’s not being said

and will point it out where you feel comfortable doing so.

Knowing how a situation will likely play out. You can easily see many possible

end results to events and often have “premonitions” of sorts about the future

that seem to be more accurate than for other Brain Types. This means you’re

rarely surprised because you’ve already taken into account nearly every

possible outcome for a specific situation.

You’re talented at solving unusual, novel problems and this makes your brain

come alive. Your unique way of looking at things also allows you to challenge

conventional ways of thinking.

You’re likely to have an active imagination and are able to take a single idea

really far.

Incredibly future oriented. You have the longest scope of how far you’re looking

into the future compared to other Brain Types and you naturally calculate for

very long-term trajectories. This lets you notice potential roadblocks in a long-

term plan that others might not foresee.

POTENTIAL WEAKNESSES

Translating your ideas into words. When it comes to communicating things that have a lot of significance to you, you may have trouble translating thoughts into words in a way others can easily comprehend.

Page 4: YOU ARE THE ORACLE! - s3.amazonaws.comResults/BT-Oracle.pdf · YOU ARE THE ORACLE! YOU NEED DISCONNECT & FIND FOCUS TIME TO THRIVE YOUR CORE NEEDS Expression - As an Oracle, you generally

Getting overwhelmed with starting something new. You’re often good at

making predictions of how things will go. But, if you’re in a bad place and

thinking about starting a new project, you can psych yourself out by seeing

how it could go wrong, and decide that the outcome is not going to be worth

the effort it would take.

Repetition and practice. You may have a hard time with repetitive practice

and need to use unusual methods to achieve mastery at something.

Taking a normal challenge as a bad sign. When you’re in a rut — sometimes

challenges seem to confirm your worst suspicions and discourage you from

continuing.

Information overload. You may get overloaded with huge amounts of

information (often information your mind creates) at times that makes it

tough to cope with everyday life and the demands that other people place

on you.

WHEN MAKING DECISIONS

You have exceptional instincts, so take your instincts and intuition seriously

when they’re telling you something. Often your instincts are doing a lot of the

processing work for you behind the scenes, so pay attention to those “a-ha!”

moments.

Page 5: YOU ARE THE ORACLE! - s3.amazonaws.comResults/BT-Oracle.pdf · YOU ARE THE ORACLE! YOU NEED DISCONNECT & FIND FOCUS TIME TO THRIVE YOUR CORE NEEDS Expression - As an Oracle, you generally

Remember the context. Don’t neglect putting your instincts into the context

of the situation, and be careful not to blindly follow it, but make sure that

you give it a say in your decisions when it’s clearly leading you in a specific

direction.

PLANNING STRUCTURE

Find ways to visually represent your goals. Putting up a vision board, calendar,

or other visual reminder will help keep you on track.

Have an overarching, single focus for the week. Don’t try to overload your

brain with too many important things at once. You’ll focus better if you have

one main objective.

Review past wins daily or weekly. Because you’re constantly looking incredibly

far out toward future possibilities, it can be difficult to feel like you’re making

much progress in the here and now. Reminding yourself regularly about the

progress you’ve made so far will keep you from getting discouraged. Journaling

or keeping a private video or audio diary can help.

Don’t forget to share your ideas with people you trust. When you need to

work through ideas, consider processing out loud with someone else to bring

some structure to it and bounce ideas off them. If it seems like you should

move forward, then write your main steps out.

Bring others on board to help. Don’t forget to delegate or partner with other

people on the things you don’t like or aren’t good at.

Page 6: YOU ARE THE ORACLE! - s3.amazonaws.comResults/BT-Oracle.pdf · YOU ARE THE ORACLE! YOU NEED DISCONNECT & FIND FOCUS TIME TO THRIVE YOUR CORE NEEDS Expression - As an Oracle, you generally

Make time for yourself. Don’t worry about planning out your whole day to the

hour — leave yourself some time that’s unplanned so you can disconnect from

all the external pressure and have space to think.

Work in modes. Oracles often get into the zone for specific kinds of tasks - like

a “work mode,” or an “errands mode,” or even a “rest mode.” Don’t be afraid to

switch up your day a little bit if it means you can set aside focus time and work

when you’re really feeling it.

PEOPLE THAT HELP YOU EVOLVE

Other Oracles to understand you on a deeper level than you might normally experience with other

Brain Types.

Alchemists to help you verbalize some of your more complex ideas, and to

broaden your horizons when it comes to the scope of your ideas.

Architects to help you formulate structured plans so you can ideas to

fruition.

Explorers to help you takea break from introspection and find

balance by tapping into yourlive-in-the-moment side.

YOUR IDEAL ENVIRONMENT

Get time away from everything — any overwhelming sensory experiences,

people asking stupid questions, all overstimulation, and mundane demands

when you need to think.

Create a peaceful space where you can be completely yourself and where you

have enough control over the environment. It might be your car or a park that’s

fairly empty of other people.

Avoid overstimulation — things like fluorescent lights, and consider finding

music that gets your brain in the zone to cover any annoying white noise.

YOUR SECONDARY BRAIN TYPEIS THE EXPLORER

The Oracle’s secondary Brain Type is the Explorer. This is the side of you that’s

fun-loving, fascinated by nature, beauty, good craftsmanship; and wanting

freedom from the details of everyday life and the pressure to make money.

Your Explorer side makes paying attention to the way your environment affects

you so vital. It can be easy for you to get wrapped up in everything you need or

want to do and forget to connect with the side of you that deeply appreciates

the beauty in the world and people around you. Don’t forget to take time to

ground yourself through things like meditation, taking off your shoes at the park

and digging your toes into the dirt, or watching the sunset.

Use non-verbal communication to express your ideas. Because it can often be

difficult to express your thoughts in words, consider seeking out art forms that

help you express your more complex thoughts and feelings. It may be difficult

if you struggle with perfectionism, but remember that the goal is not to make a

$1 million piece of art. The goal is to get more in touch with what’s in your head

and find new ways to communicate those things.
