DESCRIPTION

The Johnson Controls York Taurus High and Low Static Ducted Split Air Conditioners consist of ceiling suspended, indoor concealed ducted fan coil units and outdoor condensing units. This range of ducted splits from Johnson Controls offers the perfect combination of superior product quality, operating efficiency and value for money.

Taurus Residential Ducted Split Units with Rotary Type Compressors for Low Rise Buildings are suitable for installations where:

The maximum equivalent piping length between the indoor unit and outdoor unit does not exceed 15 Meters.

The maximum vertical height difference between the indoor unit and outdoor unit does not exceed 5 Meters.

These units are available in side and top discharge configurations, as cool only and heat pump models. All capacities are rated according to the relevant ASHRAE Standards. All units are CE certified and are manufactured under strict quality control with full conformance to ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001 standards. Low static models are available in 5 combinations to cover a nominal capacity range from 12,000 to 36,000 Btuh. High static models are also available in 3 combinations to cover a nominal capacity range from 30,000 to 42,000 Btuh. All models are designed for satisfactory operation in the high ambient conditions of 125°F (52°C) found in the Middle East.

With low noise levels and other unique features, these ducted split units are suitable for a variety of applications such as high rise apartment buildings, condominiums, offices, schools, shops, mosques, indoor play areas and other similar applications.

All units are designed with the convenience of the customer and the end user in mind and are factory assembled, tested, supplied internally wired and with refrigerant charge. All that is required at site is ducting and connection to a power source and control, thus reducing installation time and costs.

FEATURES - CONDENSING UNITS

Condensing units are designed for operation with R 22 and are LVD (Low Voltage Directive) certified. Taurus condensing units are available in a side and top discharge configuration for a nominal capacity range from 12,000 to 42,000 Btuh. Units are shipped with a charge of R22 sufficient for 15 ft. of refrigerant piping.

All compressors are rotary type and have internal overload protection while large capacity compressors (model with nominal capacity 42,000 Btuh) have high and low pressure cutouts for additional compressor safety.

Unit casing is constructed of zinc coated, heavy gauge, galvanized steel. Exterior surfaces are thoroughly cleaned, phosphatized, and finished with weather resistant, baked enamel. Load bearing panels are adequately strengthened for maximum reliability.

Condenser coils are of staggered heavy wall seamless copper tubes mechanically bonded to aluminium fins. Each coil is thoroughly pressure tested to 450 psig to detect any leaks. Condensers are suitably protected to prevent damage at site during handling and installation.

Condenser fans are of axial type with statically and dynamically balanced blades, directly driven by a single phase electric motor ensuring quiet operation.

The fan motors are of permanently lubricated type with internal thermal protection as standard. All shafts are protected against rusting. The fan motors used are permanent split capacitor type for high efficiency.

All condensing units have factory assembled contactors, relays and terminal blocks for easy wiring during installation. Contactors are standard for 30,000 to 42,000 Btuh models only.

FEATURES - FAN COIL UNITS

Fan coil units are ceiling suspended. Low static models are Blow through type, High static models from size 30,000 to 36,000 Btuh are of blow through type while unit size 42,000 Btuh is of draw through configuration. All fan coil units are suitable for indoor concealed ducted installation. All indoor units are factory assembled including coil, condensate drain pan, fan motor(s), filters and controls in an insulated casing.

Units are tested and rated in accordance with ASHRAE standards. Unit casing is constructed of zinc coated, heavy gauge galvanized steel. The exterior surfaces are thoroughly cleaned, phosphatized, and finished with a weather resistant, baked enamel finish. All panels in the unit casing are insulated with permanent fire retardant odorless material. Knockouts are provided for electrical power and refrigerant piping connections. Panels are fastened with screws for ease of service and cleaning.

Evaporator coils are constructed of copper tube and aluminum fins. Aluminum fins are bonded to copper tubing and factory pressure leak tested at 450 psig. Coils are arranged for draw through or blow through applications. The condensate drain pan is constructed of powder coated GI.

Evaporator fans are of double inlet, double width, forward curved, centrifugal type with direct drive motor as standard. They are statically and dynamically balanced for quiet operation. The fan motors are of permanently lubricated type with internal thermal protection as standard. The shaft is protected against rusting. All fan motors are resilient mounted to minimize vibration and noise and are of permanent split capacitor type for high efficiency.

Wired microprocessor based controls are standard, additional wireless remote controls are also provided. The controls provide for compressor delay protection, indoor anti icing, 3 speed fan control, temperature setting and auto fan function. All units are provided with filters that are easily accessible from the rear of the unit. Filters are fabricated from washable synthetic media. Aluminium filters of thickness 19 mm are available as an option.

GUIDE SPECIFICATIONS

Condensing Units

General

Units shall be completely factory assembled including coil, compressor, fan motor(s), and controls in a sheet metal casing. Units shall be tested and rated in accordance with ASHRAE standards.

Casing

Unit casing shall be constructed of zinc coated, heavy gauge galvanized steel. Exterior surfaces shall be cleaned, phosphatized, and finished with a weather resistant baked enamel finish. The load bearing panels shall be adequately strengthened for maximum reliability.

Compressor

Compressors shall be hermetically sealed. The compressors shall have internal overload protection and large capacity compressors (used for models with nominal capacity 42,000 Btuh) shall have low pressure and high pressure cut outs for additional safety.

Condenser Coil

Coils shall be constructed of copper tube and aluminum fins. Aluminum fins shall be bonded to copper tubing and factory pressure and leak tested at the factory to 450 psig.

Condenser Fan

Condenser fan shall be of axial type with direct drive motor as standard. All fans shall be statically and dynamically balanced for quiet operation.

Fan Motor

The fan motor shall be of permanently lubricated type with inherent internal thermal protection as standard. The shaft shall be protected against rusting. The fan motor shall be of permanent split capacitor type for high efficiency.

Ease of Installation

Outdoor unit shall have factory assembled contactors, relays and terminal blocks for easy wiring during installation, contactors are standard for 30,000 to 42,000 Btuh models only.

Installation

Taurus Residential Ducted Split Units with Rotary Type Compressors for Low Rise Buildings are suitable for installations where:

The maximum equivalent piping length between the indoor unit and outdoor unit does not exceed 15 Meters.

The maximum vertical height difference between the indoor unit and outdoor unit does not exceed 5 Meters.

Fan coil units

General

Units shall be factory assembled including coil, condensate drain pan, fan motor, filters and controls in an insulated casing. Units shall be tested and rated in accordance with ASHRAE standards.

Casing

Unit casing shall be constructed of zinc coated, heavy gauge galvanized steel. Exterior surfaces shall be cleaned, phosphatized, and finished with a weather resistant baked enamel finish. All panels in the casing shall be insulated with permanent, fire retardant, odorless material. Knockouts shall be provided for unit electrical power and refrigerant piping connections. Panels shall be fastened by screws.

Evaporator Coil

Coils shall be constructed of copper tube and aluminum fins. Fins shall be bonded to the tubing and pressure and leak tested at the factory at 450 psig. Low static coils are arranged for Blow through operation, High static coils for models between a nominal capacity range of 30,000 to 36,000 Btuh shall be arranged for blow through operation, while coils for models in a nominal capacity 42,000 Btuh shall be arranged for draw thru operation. The condensate drain pan shall be constructed of powder coated galvanized iron.

Evaporator Fan

Evaporator fan shall be of double inlet, double width, and forward curved, centrifugal type with direct drive motor as standard. All fans shall be statically and dynamically balanced for quiet operation.

Fan Motor

The fan motor(s) shall be of permanently lubricated type with internal thermal protection as standard. The shaft shall be protected against rusting. The fan motor(s) shall be resilient mounted to minimize vibration and noise. The fan motor(s) shall be of permanent split capacitor type for high efficiency.

Controls

Wired control shall be available as standard, additional wireless remote control are also provided. The controls shall be microprocessor based and provide for a user interface. The controls shall provide compressor delay protection, anti icing for indoor units, 3 speed fan control, and auto fan function.

Filters

Filters shall be easily accessible from the rear of the unit. Filters shall be fabricated from synthetic media and shall be of washable type.
