1. Deposit Payment Guide
A. Deposit payment period: 2016.12.19(Mon) 09:00 ~ 2016.12.21(Wed) 16:00 local time
[If a student does not pay the full amount of Deposit fees by the due date, admission will be
AUTOMATICALLY withdrawn.]
B. Payment Methods
1) The total amount of deposit fees indicated on your bill should be paid through the virtual
account number of Woori Bank given to each student (the total amount should be paid in full
settlement and cannot be divided).
※ Each student has his/her own virtual account number. Regardless of the name of a depositor,
once the total amount of Deposit fees is successfully deposited to a student’s virtual account,
the student is automatically registered to Yonsei University.
2) Wire transfer (internet banking, phone banking, ATM transfer) or transfer at any bank
counter (in person) is possible. (Credit card payment is NOT available)
※ Extra service fee may be charged when using Banks other than Woori Bank.
※ Transfer may not be available through certain non-monetary institutions such as CMA
accounts.
C. Amount of deposit fees: 450,000KRW
※ All accepted students MUST pay deposit fees first during the deposit payment period and
pay tuition fees later during the tuition payment period.
D. Verifying deposit fees and printing out the bill
1) It will be possible to print out the bill on the website of portal system from 2016.12.19(Mon)
09:00 local time.
2) Instructions:
On the website of Yonsei University Portal System(http://portal.yonsei.ac.kr) → Click ‘Tuition
and Payment’ under ‘The Main Portal Service’ → Login with your ID(Application
Number-inCaps) and Password[default password: Six digits of D.O.B in the order of Year, Month
and Date (YYMMDD)] → Registration > Print/registration → Browse/Registration → Print
E. For more information on registration (printing out the bill, verification of payment etc.), please
refer to the Yonsei Portal System.

F. Restriction on dual enrollment
Students who receive more than one acceptances from universities through Early Admission
(Susi-Tracks, including Overseas Korean and International students tracks) must enroll at one
university ONLY. In case of dual enrollment, acceptance at all universities that you enroll at will be
cancelled.

[How to Print The Bill]
[1] Log on to Yonsei Portal Service at http://portal.yonsei.ac.kr → Click "Tuition and Payment"
[2] Log in: Enter your Application number (capital letters) as ID (instead of Student ID number) and password
(Six digits of D.O.B.: YYMMDD).

[3] Print the bill: Registration > Print/Registration → Browse/Registration → Print
[4] One virtual deposit account is provided for each student on the tuition bill. Once the deposit to this
account has been completed successfully, the student is automatically registered at Yonsei University
(even if the wire transfer was done by other person’s name).

– Students who are expected to graduate from high school(including schools in Korea) must
submit these documents to the Office of Admissions
C. Letter of Consent & Letter of Request
- All accepted students who have not submitted Letter of Consent and Letter of Request
must fill out them[formats on page 9~10] and submit both to the Office of Admissions.
* Letter of Consent: only one for each student needed
* Letter of Request (‘Student’s section’): only for high school(s) attended
D. Office of Admission can request students for additional documents to be submitted when
necessary in the process of screening required documents.
4. Korean Proficiency Test
A. Test Date and Place (Students can choose between Date1 and Date2 at their convenience)
※ All applicants of Korean Proficiency Test must bring their test identification slips, ID cards(passports or
Alien Registration cards), and pens.

Certificate of Admission is necessary for foreign students(including F visa holders) in order
to acquire a Student Visa(D-2) in Korea. All international students should obtain D-2(student)
visa. Visa status, study programs and related information should be submitted to Foreign
Student Information System run by Ministry of Justice. Please obtain a student visa before the
start of the semester. Note, those overseas Korean students holding F-4, F-5, do not have to
change the visa to a D-2, however, they must prove their visa type. The office of
International affairs will contact each student via email after the tuition deposit is paid.

6. Health Insurance for International Students [Submission due date: 2017.1.25(Wed)]

Previously, all international students at Yonsei were recommended to obtain personal health
insurance to prepare for emergency situations and illness. The Korean Ministry of Education
recently set guidelines stating that all international students are required to either submit
their proof of insurance or purchase insurance in Korea beginning from 2015.
Please refer to the following information and submit your proof of health insurance no later
than 2017.1.25(Wed) in order to register for courses in the 2017 Spring semester.
Otherwise, access to the school portal system will be restricted. Please apply for insurance
as soon as possible for your health and welfare and to avoid any disadvantages in course
registration. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
A. Approved insurances
1) Private Insurance from home country: Private insurance purchased from the home
country is also valid if it is applicable in Korea.
Ÿ Documented evidence stating the terms of policy, insurance period and personal
information are required for confirmation.
Ÿ An English version of document is highly recommended. If not available, please
provide a Korean or English translation for your insurance document.
2) National Health Insurance: Long-term international students staying in Korea will
receive the same benefits as Koreans.

Getting a Student ID Card
1. Overview The Yonsei ID card, exclusively for its members (students, faculty and staff), is crucial for
campus life. It serves as a combination of identification and banking functions. It is also used as a debit or electronic cash (K-Cash) card. And, it is used to enter the library and some buildings, or to check class attendance.

6. Housing residence period : 1 semester

Campus located in Incheon for Residential College course.
※ Students who are admitted to Department of Sport Industry Studies and Physical
Education are to spend their first one semester of the freshman year at International
Campus for Residential College course.
※ Hosing application period for Fall semester : from late July or early August
(Please refer to the announcement on YIC Dormitory homepage in July)
7. Health Inspection
A. All students who want to move into the dormitory must submit 'Chest X-ray results(for
tuberculosis test)' and 'Certificate of MMR(Measles, Mumps & Rubella) Vaccination' (only
Korean or English version is valid)
(1) tuberculosis(TB) inspection certificate
① TB inspection should be done in the hospital.
② TB inspection must not go over expire date (within 2 month from a date of issue)
③ TB inspection certificate must be submitted every semester.
④ CD, film etc. cannot be submitted instead of the certificate (Only the document of
certificate with the seal can be submitted)
(2) MMR (Measles, Mumps & Rubella) Vaccination Certificate
B. Move-in can be available only if both documents are submitted when you check in. If one of
them is missing, move-in is basically not allowed on that day you arrived.
C. Move-in procedure might be refused if it turns out that communal living is not possible
according to the results of the medical check up.
D. The term of validity for the Chest X-ray Certificate : within 2 months from the Move-In
date.
E. Where to submit : at the dormitory lobby on the very day of the move-in.

F. Please contact or visit YIC Health Center to inform your personal medical issues including
state of taking medicine for health, safety and prompt action in case of emergency.

A. The house and room for each student will be assigned randomly.
B. Room assignments will be announced on 2017.2.23.(Thu) 17:00, local time via YIC

C. Move-In Date & Time: 2017.2.26(Sun) 09:00 ~ 2.28(Tue) 18:00
D. Move-In Procedure
(1) Confirm your identification at each reception when you check in(ID cards required).

(2) Submit the medical certificates(Chest X-ray results & MMR Vaccination)
(3) Check your assigned room, get a card key and two types of check-in documents.
(4) After the move-in, write down the documents(facility check list & check-in pledge) and
submit it to the dormitory admin office.
E. Internal Facilities: desk & chair, wardrobes, shoe closet, single bed & mattress, air
conditioning & heating system, shower room, bathroom, LAN port.
F. What To Bring
(1) Social identification card or Driver’s license for ID check up
(2) Personal belongings [mattress sheet for single bed(1000*2000), comforter, pillow,
toiletries, hangers, slippers and etc.]
※ Since dormitory is a place for cohabitation, please make sure to keep your belongings on
a proper level.
※ Size of Wardrobes : 280*2,100 for triple room, 600*2,100 for double room
G. All electronic heating devices is not allowed to use in the room(except for a hair drier or
straightener)
H. No pets allowed in the dormitory.
I. How to get a delivery : receive it with signing in personal at each building lobby
※ Be sure to exclude your valuables from the delivery in case of losing it.
※ Please dispatch the delivery after confirming the assigned building and room number from
the assignment which will be noticed on 23rd, Feb on the website.
※ Address for the delivery : Room #, Bld. #, Songdo Dormitory #, Yonsei International
Campus, Songdo Gwahakro 85, Yoensu-gu, Incheon.
9. Application Info for the Handicapped Students
A. Please ask 'Support Center for Handicapped Students' about the details for the application
such as required documents and how to submit it.

10. Points of Caution
A. The housing application can be completed only if every information in the form is filled
without empty. If not, the application is not submitted.
B. Please do not forget to click the check box in the application form on the website to get a
dormitory scholarship for sure.
C. Students residing in Incheon city may choose not to stay at dormitory by submitting proof
documents.

D. Housing fee should be paid within preset period to the virtual account individually assigned.
If not, the application will be canceled.

E. Please make sure your payment should be transferred in your name if possible. The
payment in installments or with a credit card is NOT acceptable.
F. It is impossible to pay the housing fee after the designated period.
G. If you want to cancel the application for personal circumstances or an another university
registration after the payment, please download and fill 'the Refund Application' form from
the website and send it by email([email protected]) until 2017.2.22(Wed) 17:00, local
time. Once the move-in procedure is finished, housing fee will be refunded by the terms of
mid-departure regulations.

H. The mid-departure is only available by the reasons below
(required documents : the refund application & copy of bankbook)
(1) Leave of absence(including for the military services), dropout(requiring certificate
document)
(2) Medical reasons(hospitalization only, requiring diagnosis certificate)
(3) Refund for the mid-departure students will be repaid after deducting 150,000won of the
housing fee and the extra will be refunded after calculating by week or remained staying
period[No refunds from 2017.5.15(Mon)]
I. In case of the leave of absence or dropout in the middle of the semester, staying in the
dormitory is not allowed for the rest of the housing period(move-out is supposed to be
progressed with applying a leave of absence or dropout at the same time).

ㆍ Location
- Each level test: computer labs in Sin-Chon Campus/ Academic Advising: classrooms.
- Specific location will be announced through University College homepage (http://www4.yonsei.ac.kr/fresh).
ㆍ Students who attend level test should follow this schedule and take the test.
- All UIC students are exempt from the English level test.
- Math and Physics level test is only tested on students in college of Science, Engineering and Life
Science & Biology.
- However, all freshmen students of mathematic major is exempt from Math level test.
2. Yonsei English level certification and English level test
Yonsei University implemented English level certification since 2010.
English Level tests measure individuals’ ability to use English and provide appropriate level of English
courses and students are required to take the course during semester. For details, please visit
(http://www4.yonsei.ac.kr/fresh) and find ‘영어인증 프로그램(Yonsei English level certification)’ section.
◆ Students who are exempt from English Level certification
If students have test score on the tests listed down below, you are exempt from English level test.
To be exempt, you have to fill out your test score on Yonsei Portal.
a. Date : 2017.2.1(Wed) 09:00 ~ 2.15(Wed) 17:00, local time (2 weeks)
b. Procedure: Go to Yonsei Portal(http://portal.yonsei.ac.kr) and type in the test score.
1) Log-in : ID- application number, Password- 6 digits of date of birth(YYMMDD)
2) Enter your score
3) Scan your unofficial score report -> insert it -> save
4) For external official score report students have to agree with the statement that ‘외부공인성적표
의 등록번호 등의 기재사항을 활용하여 학부대학이 해당 시험 주관기관에 의뢰하여 원본대조를 할
수 있다’
c. Original copy comparison : Students have to bring the official score report to their department
office(Sin-Chon and Song-do) from 2017.3.6(Mon) 09:00 to 3.10(Fri) 17:00 and office will compare
your score that you uploaded on Yonsei portal and to prove exemption. If students miss the given
period of time, they will lose their qualification for exemption and their course registration data of
related University English class will be deleted.
d. Test score valid date: Test score established on March 1st, 2015 or after is valid.
e. If there is a difference detected between the score on original score report and score that student
entered on portal, it will be counted as unfair practice and the student can get a punishment.

3. Math and Physics leveled education and level test
Every Yonsei students in College of Science, Engineering and Life Science & Biology should take math
and physics as their graduate requirements. Math and Physics level test measure student’s ability in
both subjects and offer classes that students need in order to complete their basic academic
requirements.
◆ Target of Math/Physics level test
a. Target of Math/Physics level test: All freshmen in College of Science/Engineering/Life Science &
Biology.
- Except for Integrated Technology students
- Mathematic majored students(in college of science) is exempt from math level test.
b. Test Method: Online test using computer.
c. Test result announcement: The test is graded right after the exam. Each student can check his/her
grade individually.
4. Academic Advising before the beginning of semester: 2017 spring semester academic schedule
Academic advising before the school will be offered by students’ academic advisor and will provide
things such as freshmen year academic plan, characteristics of freshmen courses, freshmen required
courses, class enrollment, and how to manage campus life and other things that helps student’s
