Yokohama, Kanagawa prefecture: March 31 Yokohama is Japan's second largest city with a population of over three million. Yokohama's port was one of the first to be opened to foreign trade in 1859. Consequently, Yokohama quickly grew from a small fishing village into one of Japan's major cities. Until today, Yokohama remains popular among expats, has one of the world's largest china-towns and preserves some former Western residences in the Yamate district.

Sasebo, Nagasaki Prefecture : April 1

Jeju, S Korea : April 4

Jeju Island, also known as the "Island of the Gods," is a popular vacation spot in Korea . It remains the top honeymoon destination for Korean newlyweds.

The Jeju Peace Museum sits on the site of Gamma Oreum, a lasting memorial to life under occupation and those forced labourers who constructed the tunnels.

Hiroshima: Hiroshima prefecture April 6

Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park is one of the most prominent features of the city. Before the bomb, the area of what is now the Peace Park was the political and commercial heart of the city. Four years to the day after the bomb was dropped, it was decided that the area would not be redeveloped but instead devoted to peace memorial facilities.

Sasebo city is located in Nagasaki prefecture and its unique history and magnificent natural setting has made it one of Japan's most popular sightseeing destinations. It is home to two unique theme parks, Huis Ten Bosch, modeled after a typical Dutch town, and Nagasaki Dutch Village. Nagasaki prefecture is also home to Nagasaki City, which together with Hiroshima City, suffered the disaster of the atomic bombing in 1945 and supplied a driving force for the international peace movement after the war
