Fellow NOBA members,
I recently wrote a personal note to U.S. District Judge Peter Hill Beer that congratulated and thanked him for his remarkable 60 years of membership in the New Orleans Bar Association. Over the years, Judge Beer has been a loyal member of our organization, gladly serving as a speaker at programs, as a host for NOBA events, and as a recruiter of new members. True to form, he wrote back and recalled the numerous personal friendships and professional relationships he’s made through his membership in our association. Membership in a professional association is one of the best career investments you’ll make. Most of you that are reading this are NOBA members, and we are very grateful for all the support and contributions that make our Association so well-rounded. (Please don’t forget that our renewal deadline is December 1, 2017!) Perhaps you know someone that has been a member in the past, but work and life got in the way of them renewing. With your help, we can get these past members to reconsider their membership with the New Orleans
Bar Association. Or maybe you know someone who hasn’t been a member but would benefit from joining. Take the time and spread the word. Remember, membership pays for itself. Here are just a few of the benefits the New Orleans Bar Association provides you:
• Access to more than 50 professional committees to keep you informed with the local legal community
• FREE CLEs throughout the year, including Approach the Bench and our Free on Fridays CLE Series on technology and law practice management topics
• Speaking opportunities to enhance your profile and your credentials
• CLEs for free or steep discounts
• Events designed to help you get to know the Greater New Orleans Legal community
• Continuing Members get reduced fees for other CLE programs
• Discounted or free access to NOBA events
• NOBA’s weekly e-mail newsletter and monthly magazine containing information on local legal news, upcoming NOBA Committee Meetings, events and CLE, and job opportunities
• Access to public service events, networking opportunities, and much more...
Recent studies show that professional association members earn significantly more money and are more satisfied with their jobs than non-members. NOBA offers you and all members many ways to expand skills, various opportunities to attend the best CLE programs in New Orleans, and privileged access to countless seminars and networking events. So I encourage you all to continue being a part of our community and help get our colleagues to renew and to become new members, too.
Thank you, again, Judge Beer, for your loyal support. And thank you all for your membership. I hope to see you at a NOBA event soon!
Chris
