Eniro announces restructuring of directory assistance services

Date 21th April, 2009

The Nordic yellow pages company, Eniro has restructured

its directory assistance (DA) business following a wholesale

review of the company’s cost structure. Eniro 118 118 has

been absorbed into Eniro Sweden and operations in

Helsingborg will be discontinued (leaving 6 locations). The

CEO (Barbro Sjölander) is also leaving. Eniro has stated

that the future development of both its online and DA

businesses will require them to work together more closely.

Claro partners with Yahoo’s OneSearch in Mexico

The Mexican mobile operator, Claro has partnered with Yahoo to make Yahoo’s OneSearch search engine the default search engine on its handsets. Claro is part of the Mexico telecom services company, America Movil. Yahoo has launched the OneSearch mobile search engine in a number of Latin American countries including Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Peru and Venezuela.

Beyond Commerce launches LocalAdLink

Beyond Commerce has launched LocalAdLink, a local search directory and advertising network. The network uses geo-targeting technology to display relevant local advertising on proprietary and third party websites. The company claims to have signed up over 30,000 small businesses in a 3 month period. Beyond Commerce is a US-based provider of online marketing services including ecommerce solutions and a social networking offer.

YPA appoints Christopher Cummings as Chairman

The US-based trade association, Yellow Pages Association has appointed Christopher Cummings as its Chairman. Christopher Cummings is the CEO and owner of the Marquette Group, a specialist yellow pages sales agency.

Multiplied Media launches Poynt on the BlackBerry Apps store

Date 28th April, 2009

Multiplied Media has made its Poynt local search application available on the Blackberry Apps store. The application offers a wide range of local search tools including search, listings data and movie ticketing; the application is primarily targeted at the US and Canadian markets. Content on Poynt has been sourced via a number of partnerships including Yellow Pages Group (Canada), Idearc Media (USA) and t-info (Germany) and Infobel (Europe).

The company also announced its financial results for the year ended December 2008.

Seat Pagine Gialle appoints new CEO

The Italian yellow pages publisher, Seat Pagine Gialle

appointed Alberto Cappellini as their new Chief Executive

to replace Luca Majocchi. His previous corporate role was

with the Italian operations of the FMCG company,

Kimberly- Clark.

TrueLocal launches a local search application for

Apple iPhone

The Australian directories company, TrueLocal has launched a local search application for the Apple iPhone. The application includes advanced features that make it better to find and connect with local business.
