On Tuesday, October
30th students and parents
carved their pumpkins. I
carved my pumpkin as
stuffy from Doc
Mcstuffins. I also
interviewed some people
in Mrs. Carr's class about
what they carved and
why they carved it like
that. Their names are
Taylor, Emily, and
Celine. Taylor said that
she carved a smiley face
because she likes smiles.
Emily said that she
carved her pumpkin as a
princess castle because
she likes princesses. And
Celine said that she
carved her pumpkin as a
spider because she likes
how
the
spider
went
up
the
water
spout.

Pumpkin Walk
Pajama Day
Book Fair
Wow! There were a lot
of amazing costumes at this
year’s pumpkin walk. We
had Candy Corn Witches,
Zombie Prom Queens, and
Vietnam Soldiers. We even
had a few teachers dressed
up. Ms. Leos was Princess
Bubblegum and
Mrs. Dodson was dressed up
as a witch. There were many
familiar characters roaming
around the pumpkin walk
like Katniss from the
Hunger Games, Dorothy
from the Wizard of Oz, and
a few cowboys and
cowgirls. Even our own
Mrs. Winkelmann was
dressed in her best
western wear. Another great
pumpkin walk in the books!
October was National Breast
Cancer Awareness Month. If you
saw athletes on television wearing
pink, or stores selling items that
were pink, it was because of this
special month. Breast cancer can
affect women, and sometimes men
of different ages, and we need to
find a cure. Each year the Susan G.
Komen foundation holds races all
over the country to help find a cure
for breast cancer. There are already
many cures available for some
people, but they do not always work
for everyone.
This year I
participated in the
race in downtown
Phoenix. There were
thousands of people
who: chose to walk
or ran 1 mile or run
A 5K.
There were vendors
passing out free
stuff to help support
the cause. This race
was fun for people of all ages.
Day can really be any day. It is
always good to say hi to a per-
son standing alone, sit
next to a new student
or offer to play a game
with someone standing
by themselves.
October 30th marked an important
day for making new friends. Mix It
Up Day was a day to go outside of
your normal friendship circles. One
way we “mixed it up” was sitting in
different seats in the cafeteria. This
was a fun way to spend our lunch
time and meet someone new.
Students were also encouraged to
“mix it up” on the playground and
play with a new friend. Mix It Up

had a lot of school spirit.
We got to do pajama day
because we had 30 peace
days! Our next goal is 45
peace days.
Everybody can't
wait till our next
celebration!
P.J. Day!
One of are peace
celebrations were to wear
P.J.'s! Everybody had a fun
day that day. Some people
even got to go on
announcements because
their pajamas were
awesome and because they
At Brisas we do a read-a-thon as a
fundraiser. Students read a lot of
books and earn money from family
and friends. The more money you
raise the more prizes you get. Some
of the prizes you can get are… a
Brisas pen, coupon for a free slice of
pizza, and a Brisas water bottle (and
other things too)! If you raised $75.00
you got to go to the D.J. glow party!
On November 2 141 students got to go
to the D.J. glow party. There was mu-
sic and there was even a disco! We
also got to get a glow stick. It was fun.
But that’s not the grand prize, the
grand prize is to go on a limo with
the principals to get ice cream! The
people that went on the limo were
very lucky. There were 57 students
that got to ride in a limo! I was one
of them. It was fun. Everybody got
to talk with the principals and play a
little bit of video games at
McDonalds. And the ice cream
was really good. The limo was re-
ally big. It was kind of like a party
because there were lights and we
got to listen to music. Everybody
was happy. What a fun thing!
Because of Mr. Terupt is an awesome
book. It is written by Mr. Rob Buyea.
The storyline for this book is about a
teacher, Mr. Terupt, who changes
the lives of seven (7) children. They
are: Alexia, the bully; Anna, the
outcast; Danielle, one who never
stands up for herself; Jessica, the
new kid, who has a hard time fitting
in; Jeffrey, who hates school; Luke,
the smart guy and finally Peter the
troublemaker. The way how each of
their lives are changed for the better
by the influence of this one teacher
is the main story. You have to read
this book to really understand its
uniqueness.
Everybody who reads this book can
relate to this book. Because there is
a Mr. Terupt in all our lives.
Everybody I have spoken to has loved
this book. According to me, everyone
of us should read this book. Hope all
of you get a chance to do so. There
are three copies of this book in our
library. Have a good time reading.
Hi all. Our
school had a
book fair from
29th of
October to the
2nd of
November.
There were lots
of books on sale
there. A lot of
the folks browsed through the fair.
One of the books there caught my
attention. It was " Because of Mr.
Terupt".

and Sink’s Dad had passed
away. All of the D squad were
blaming themselves.
Is this really the end of the
homework machine? Read it
for your self to see what
happens.
In The Homework Machine
by Dan Gutman a group of kids
called the D squad uses a
Machine that does their
homework for them.
One of the kids named Breton
made the machine.
They keep it a secret and gave it
the code named Belch. Then
one day in April Breton told
about Belch. Police try to find
out who used Belch. They go to
Breton`s house. In early June
Police chief Rebecca Fish had
meeting with the D squad and
their teacher. Frist Kelsey said it
was her fault because
Benton and Judy were smart
