Transport and Journeys.

Hello everyone and Happy New Year!

On this document you will find home learning activities that can be completed with your child . We have not set a specific timetable for you to follow on set days. This enables you to be flexible and complete the activities as and when it suits you and your family.

We recognise how important you and your child's, emotional and mental well-being is, especially during these uncertain times. Therefore if you need a pyjama day with movies and treats, have one! If you need to spend the day outside enjoy it! Please remember that you can contact us in school with any queries, concerns or any help you may need.

We love to see what the children have been doing and would be delighted if you could upload any of their work onto HWB . You will find step by step ‘How to…’ guides below and on the year group page.We also have more activities under the Language, Literacy and Communication, Mathematical Development and Topic Related Activities and Arts and Crafts.

Language

Choose a vehicle and write sentences about it. Remember to use a capital letter to start and a full stop to end each sentence.

Watch ‘The Magic Key’https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ6m8rZZlicTalk about the story. Draw a picture of your favourite character and write sentences about your favourite part of the story.

Write what you know about different vehicles and journeys. Write what you would like to find out about our new topic.

Numeracy

*Find a 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2 coins. Draw around the coins and write the value on each coin. Make your own shop from things at home. Price items up to 10p. If your child is confident with this then get your child to pay for items using a combination of coins. Example, 10p = 1p + 1p + 2p + 2P +1p +1p + 1p + 1p. Then 5p + 5p = 10p. Play buying and selling in your shop.

*Learn the days of the week and months of the year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GKmCQOy88YCheck the website beforehand to ensure it is safe and suitable. Websites change constantly. Sort and write the days of the week.

Personal and SocialDevelopment.

Look at flags from the countries of the United Kingdom. Can you identify the Welsh, Scottish, Irish and English flags?

Learn your address and postcode. Look at the number of your house. Look at house numbers and different street names when you are out walking.

What can you do to be kind and helpful in the house? Tidy your bedroom, help with chores or play a game with someone in your house.

Knowledge and Understanding of the

World

How many different vehicles can you name? Which ones fly, travel on land or on the sea? Make three lists labelledAir, Land, Sea. Sort vehicles into the lists.

Creative Development

Draw a winter scene on Hwb and save it. Draw snowy, bare trees, snowmen etc

Look at your garden to help you draw your snowy tree.

Physical Development

If you go for a walk, take photographs of the trees you see.

Make a track in your garden. Use different resources to make a ‘road’. You can have a pretend petrol station, fire station, cones etc. Ride your bike or scooter around your track.

ICT

Log on to Hwb.Use JiT, Pictogram to make a pictogram of the vehicles you can see outside your house. Save your work as ‘Vehicle Pictogram’ on Hwb.

Draw a picture of a vehicle on ‘Paint’. Save as ‘vehicle’.

Money

Order real coins from the least to the greatest amount. Trace around the coins and colour them in.

If you haven’t got a printer then you can order real coins with your child. Talk about the colour of the coins, the size, shape and look at the words and numbers on the coins.

Count the money in the jars and write the amount underneath.

Draw the coins in the jars to match the amounts.
