Gottstein (Gotty), Madeleine Zoss, Mme. Lehman, Monsieur Parisod. I remember others, but not their names. Positions of responsibility held None Highlight your best and worst memories Remember learning to sing French folk songs from Mlle Zoss. Fun singing in another language. One night there was a fire drill and the firemen put the ladder up to the corner room on the third floor on the back side of the school building. Great excitement when the ladder came up to our balcony and fireman climbed over into our room! My two roommates and I standing in our pyjamas and fireman needed a volunteer, so he grabbed me and began putting the harness contraption on, to lower me over the edge. I panicked when I saw how high it was, just at that moment Mlle Zoss entered our room and offered herself as a volunteer instead. So the fireman hitched her up and began lowering her down. I thought she was quite brave and fearless. When she passed the balcony below ours the girls delighted by this unusual sight, M. Zoss, without skipping a beat said "Allez au lit." I loved almost everything about Chatelard, beautiful surroundings, summer and winter. Loved to sneak out and get a "sandwich aux oeufs" through the back window of Helioda, skiing in winter, walking up the mountain in the summer, the great comraderie of the girls.
