Introducing BirminghamBirmingham is Uk’s second largest city. It used to be a small town of 10.000 people grow into a city during the industrial revolution, this is because it was near a coal field for power and lots of useful raw materials like iron. It developed lots of metal working and engineering industries. In recent years manufacturing ( making things like cars ) has declined and the city has reinvented itself as centre for culture (theatre and television) and shopping. It is part of the west Midlands region.Birmingham’s global connectionBirmingham is a young, multi-cultural city. It’s population has come from all over the world. People came to the city to work in the many factories like Cadburys, Jaguar Landrover, jewelry making. People came from Asia, the west Indies, Eastern Europe. It has a large Pakistani community and Irish.Birmingham's population reached a peak in the 1950’s at 1112000 but then fell with the declining industry.
