School Meals Please try to ensure that the children choose an option that they will eat. It is the children’s responsibility to know if they are having the vegetarian option. Children will be encouraged to use their knives and forks correctly. We promote healthy lunchbox choices and actively discourage crisps, chocolates and sweets. As a healthy school we do not allow smoking or vaping anywhere on the school premises.

Parents in Partnership This gives details of events throughout the coming term. You should already have a copy, if you require another please ask. There is also a copy displayed in the downloads section of the school website.

shirt, plain blue tracksuits • The girls will need a spare pair of white socks in their PE bags

as they cannot wear tights during these lessons. • Earrings should be removed BEFORE coming to school on

these days as children are not permitted to take part in PE with earrings in due to Health and Safety.

• If your child is unable to participate in a PE lesson, a note is required. If your child consistently has no PE kit in school and is unable to take part, then a letter will be sent home to notify you as PE is a requirement of the National Curriculum.

Any braids or beading must be fastened back with the rest of the hair. Boots are NOT permitted in school during winter months. Please ensure that ALL items brought into school are clearly labelled with your child’s name and checked frequently to ensure they have not washed out.

Toys Children should not bring any toys into school. There is no need. We cannot accept responsibility for any lost or damaged toys.

Medicines These should ideally be given at home, but if this is unavoidable, then clear instructions should be handed in to the school office along with the medicine clearly marked with your child’s name. Throat sweets and lip salves are classed as medicine and should not be sent into class with your child.

Classroom Practice • Doors open at 9am and close at 9.15am. • The children are expected to complete a morning activity

during registration. They will be set activities such as handwriting, spelling and thinking skills.

• Late arrivals must sign in at the school office and will not be admitted through the classroom door.

• Please also try to avoid booking a holiday during term time

as children do miss work that can not be “caught up” at home. It has been noted that there is a correlation between frequent absences and achievement.

• If your child is absent, please phone the office on the first

day and then send in a note on their return to school. Unfortunately, all absences must be covered IN WRITING for the Education Welfare Officer.

Consultations During the course of the year there will be two Parent Consultations. You will also receive a written progress report. •Together may we give our children the roots to grow and the wings to fly.

•Thank you in advance for your co-operation and support during this year.
