Supplementary materials are available via Course Components from Writer’s Choice Program. Use these to help teach the standards and terms and to plan appropriate lessons that will engage students in the learning process.
Writing Focus
The writing for this term should revolve around narrative/ story telling writingtechniques. Students should also spend some time working with timed writing andpreparing for timed writing tests (SAT). Give them sample prompts (these can easily befound on the internet) to work with and give them some tips on organizing their ideasquickly (they are given scratch paper). You can spend this quarter practicing narrativewriting prompts in addition to the following writing assignments from Glencoe Writer’sChoice Grammar and Composition (WC).

Characters in Narratives Structuring a long Narrative Theme in Narrative Narrative Writing Project
Students should write a compare and contrast essay, an analysis of a character from a story, and an analysis of a plot.
