Gardening
The garden fairies weaved their magic again and the garden beds at the front of the school look amazing. Thankyou
Maree, Tai, Belinda and Zanni for spending many hours aer school last Wednesday to weed, even the rain did not
deter your efforts!
Grade 3/4 Camp to Phillip Island
This camp is now organised aer a frustra#ng setback with the original camp going into receivership. Luckily we could
find a camp for the same dates and i#nerary. There are many families that have not yet paid for their children to a&end
this camp. We leave on the 9th
November so this needs to be done ASAP. Camps are a wonderful opportunity for
students to experience new things and to further develop their resilience and independence. The cost of the camp is
$260 and must be paid in full before we leave for Phillip Island.
Shopping Tour
Thank you to the twenty shoppers who travelled to Melbourne on Saturday. It was a great day and many bargains were
brought home. We raised around $500 once expenses had been accounted for. Jo had done a lot of research with
Melbourne Shopping Tours to ensure we visited a wide variety of shops in the #me available. Her #me was very much
appreciated.
Bike Riding Camp
On Thursday 20th
and 27th
October Yea PS will be hos#ng two bike riding camps. The schools involved are Avenel PS,
Nagambie PS, Puckapunyal PS and Seymour College. The students, teachers and parents will be camping on the oval
and we will be providing their evening meal. We are hoping the weather se&les for them and they have a safe ride.
Their presence at the school will not interfere with our students as they will be leaving early on Friday to reach their
next des#na#on and arriving late on Thursday aernoon. Thank you to all those who have offered to help to prepare
and set up for serving.
Monday 31st
October
A note has been sent home with all students regarding
Monday 31st
October which is the day before the Melbourne
Cup Day holiday. Many families take the opportunity to
enjoy this four day weekend and our numbers are very low.
Please complete the form and return to school so we can
organise ac#vi#es for those who will be a&ending school
on the 31st
.
Thanks
Deb

Bookclub
Catalogues have been sent home this week for our final Bookclub for this
year. It is a wonderful opportunity to purchase Christmas presents.
Orders including payment are due back at school by Friday 21st October.
Walk to School in October
This month it is Walk to School Month and VicHealth are encouraging Victorian primary
school students and their families to walk to and from school during October, building
healthy habits for life. Students have been asked to walk to school, or to their bus stop,
as much as they can this month. To support this cause, we will be meeting at the rotunda
behind the swimming pool at 8:30am every Friday, for the rest of October, to walk to
school together. All family members are welcome to join in! There will be a staff member
present to ensure students get to school safely. Why don’t you come and join us?

On 29th October Yea Primary will be entering two billycarts in the MAD
Billy Kart Derby.
The students will be racing their carts to raise money for a Kenyan
Orphanage that is in desperate need of repairs.
Each student has received a sponsorship form to receive pledges to go
towards the rebuild.
Please get behind this very important cause and encourage our students
to support those kids who are in desperate need.
For any enquiries please call John (School Chaplain) on 0425 840 999
