    Characteristics of B/R

    Technological Aspects Commercial Aspects

    1. It Produces 10%increase in neps.

    1. Blowroomproduces 5-!0% ofthe total yarnmanufacturing waste.

    2. The 50% of thiswaste are fibers.

    3. It consumes 5-10% of the totalconversion cost.

    Cleaning

A cleaning line remoces only about 40-75% of thetrash in the material.

    Removal rate depends upon

    Raw material type

    Machinery employed

Ambient conditionsRemoval of fibers increases by more than 240%

when amount of waste removal is doubled, whereas only 41% more trash is extracted.

    Bale breaker / Blending Hopper

    Also known as bale openers

Feeding point of B/RBlending hopper is smaller version of bale

    breaker (for blending only)

    Operation Principle

Action of opposing spikes (for gentleopening)

Action of air currents (for dust extraction)

    Material regulation (for homogenity)

    Parts of Bale Breaker

    1. Creeper lattice

    Feeding point

    6 ft long

    Leather strip / wooden sticks

    4-5 ft/min speed

    2. Feed lattice

    5 ft long

    Comparatively faster speed

    3. Inclined lattice

    Spiked lattice

    10 ft long

    Inclined at 60

Trasfer of material at higher level

    Parts of Bale Breaker (cont)

    4. Evener roller

    Sharp spiked roller

    Opening and cleaning function

    Guage is very small

    5. Stripper roller

    Cotton removal

    6. Cleaning roller

Cleans the evener roller7. Swing door

Controls the level of cotton in chamber to 75%

    8. Suction fan

    Exhaust the light impurities

    Working of Bale Breaker

    Manual opening

    Conditioning for 24 hrs

    Fed by creeper lattice

Distance between evener roll & inclined lattice can beadjustable

    Opening & mixing takes place

Swing door is connected with limit switch to controlfeeding

Cleaning efficiency of bale breaker is 30-40%

    Production is 1000-1200 lb/hr and require 3-5H.P

    Advantage

Very less loss of lint (short fibers) withwaste, i.e., if total of 40% impurities are

dropped, then out of this amount, lint isonly 20% and remaining waste is 80%.
