Vladimir M. Glogovsky (1936-2008) is a doctor of

Physical & Mathematical Sciences, an outstanding

mathematician and geophysicist, author of the

concept of the Prime interpretative seismic data

processing. He developed the applied theory of

reverse kinematic problem solution: building

depth-velocity model of subsurface/media along

with its feasibility and consistency verification.

Vladimir M. Glogovsky implemented the interactive

approach and real-time accounting for a priori

information, which allows making geologically

meaningful decision directly in the course of the

processing.

Thick-layer depth velocity model consistent with a priori geological

information is used in the course of processing; this allows taking

into account variations of physical properties in both vertical and

lateral directions.

Provability and validity of processing results in any stage

Forming the basis depth-velocity model is tested for validity and consistency. For

this purpose, a special criterion of the model sufficiency in terms of a priori

knowledge about the media is calculated. Thus, each processing result

(intermediate or final) is reasonable in terms of geology.

Parallel computing

To handle large data volumes, it is essential that software allows working not only

properly but also quickly. Prime meets these requirements as the user can

customize procedures settings for one test line, save the sequence of procedures

with specified parameters to database, and then apply stream-oriented processing

to the full amount of data. Most of compute-intensive procedures in Prime are

compatible with cluster technologies allowing to use all the computational

resources efficiently.
