GCSE Health & Social Care Assessment
• Pupils are completing 60% of their GCSE assessment in YEAR 10. This is based on the study of a person’s health and the services they use to help them.
• Pupils should have already identified an individual person to use as a case study for their controlled assessment. Their name/identity is to be kept confidential and not shared with anyone at school including their teacher. This person should either have an illness/disease, disability, be in later adulthood needing support or pregnant and due over the next few months.
• The person should also use at least four health or social care services.
They will have a significant number of research homeworks that will include interviewing this person. This homework is VITAL to the success of their work. Pupils will be carrying out the first interview with their chosen individual in the next few weeks.
GCSE Food & Nutrition – 20% GCSE
• Pupils will complete 20% of final grade in Y10 and therefore must make sure all research homeworks are completed.
• Start to practise dishes at home that contain fruit and vegetables.
• Parents/carers must contact the school well in advance if there is an issue with providing ingredients so we can support your child. Pupils who turn up without ingredients on the day cannot be catered for and will therefore make little progress.

worth 20% of their final GCSE Grade.• Pupils have been emailed an Afternoon tea
research project for this assessment they must complete this over the next two weeks.

• Parents/carers must contact the school well in advance if there is an issue with providing ingredients so we can support your child. Pupils who turn up without ingredients on the day cannot be catered for and will therefore make little progress.
GCSE Fashion and Interior design
During year 10 Pupils will begin their controlled assessment (60% of final grade) where they will design and make a fabric item. If parents/carers need support with this they must contact school as we will be happy to help.
In preparation for this pupils should be practising the sewing techniques learnt in class at home. They should identify an item they could make for fun and practise at home on a weekly basis.
They must ensure all research homeworks are completed as these will be used for future lessons.
