About CIC-DC

The Captive Insurance Council of the District of Columbia, Inc. (CIC-DC) was formed in November 2001 and represents the corporate and association community interested in operating captive insurance companies in the District of Columbia.

CIC-DC was formed to advance the District of Columbia’s presence in the captive marketplace, especially as it relates to professional and industry trade associations by educating the public about the role of captives through educational programs and conferences. CIC-DC provides a forum to review legislation, regulations and other government action which affects the interests of its members.

the long term financial health of your captive. Setting them is part science, part art, and how and why they are established has a far reaching effect on your actuarial analysis each year. This session is designed to delve into various philosophies and methods for setting reserves in an alternative risk transfer program from the claims professional’s perspective and to explore the potential effects from an actuarial point of view. See how your claims management and actuarial teams can team up for your captive’s health and longevity.

financial numbers right. This session will feature two of the industry’s top experts in captive finance and accounting issues who share their insights on how some of the top performing captives ensure that their financial performance meets expectations and are properly accounted for.

the non domiciliary regulator and its domicile? This session will provide an overview of the new NAIC Accreditation Standards including the NAIC Accreditation deliberations

to date, real-life trials and tribulations of operating a RRG under the new accreditation standards and a domiciliary regulator’s view of implementing the NAIC standards. Other topics to be addressed include: Registration under the LRRA in theory and the harsh reality of multi-state implementation, what the domiciliary regulator wants before an RRG expands into another state and the role of the domiciliary regulator in disputes with non domiciliary regulators; advocate or mediator? And, when all else fails, lessons learned from AD RRG and the California Department of Insurance litigation.
