about the different types of recyclable items, we throw in the trash.
We also made art projects out of the recycled materials.
This week we are going to explore the most famous Sculptors and Painters, like Pablo Picasso,
Michelangelo, and Leonardo Da Vinci. Also they will learn some of the history of Native Ameri-can Art. The class will participate in a mural painting, they will do a Q-tip Mosaic project, and
they will draw their favorite artist work. Also they will make their own sculptures with clay.
For Literacy we have several books so the children can get all information about different forms
of art and all the famous painters and sculptors. Friday we will have movie day.
City Park Hello from City Park! This week we welcome Ms. Maria who is the new
State Preschool classroom teacher and Miss Amelia who is an aide in our First Five class. Last week Ms. Marisa’s class talked about who works at
our school and the children painted very cute pictures the different employees. Stop and look at them when you come in. We also had the Loma Linda Dental program come out and do a presentation for the
parent’s and they came to examine the children’s teeth. Next week Ms. Marisa’s class will be
talking about “How do we make friends”. They will be reading books about friendship and talk about being nice to our friends. Ms. Bousha’s class will be starting a unit on trees. They
will look at different types of trees and look at the trees in our playground. A reminder to parents that emergency packets for children are due on October 8, 2015. If you need more information on these, please see Ms. Martha. Thank you and have a good week.
SCHOOL AGE - This week school-age is learning about aquatic myth-
ical creatures. This consists of sea serpents, mermaids and water horses. We will study the famous loch ness monster known as
"Nessie" and will get all the children's opinions as to whether it was real or not. We will be graphing their opinion on a chart to see how we agree or disagree as a group.

activity when they come in from school, snack time, homework time and then outside play. This week we have been making fall crafts such as: fall trees
and spider web/pumpkins. During homework time we maintain a calm and quiet environment so all the children can have a chance to focus and receive homework help. A reminder to the parents to please double check your
child’s homework when they get home. During outside play we have been playing jump rope, hula hoops and bubbles. On Fridays the children do not have homework so this Friday we will

Merrill Merrill said good bye to September and hello to October. We
are anxious for the cooler weather to appear and to see the season change all around us. The children have been learning about exercise
and nutrition. They have taken a new perspective on how to take
care of their bodies.
This week we have started our CAT dance classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We would like
to give a warm welcome to Ms. Ashley who is our dance instructor. Dance is a wonderful form
of exercise to make our bodies healthy and strong.
In the next week we will be focusing on the question, "What do our bodies need in order to move and exercise?" We will be exploring different activities that show the different food groups from My Plate. The children will be learning how to take care of their bodies with what
they put into their bodies.
