HOW TO ESTABLISH A GMPRS CONNECTION WITH THURAYA XT?
1. Install the required driver on your computer:
Enter the Support-CD included in your Thuraya XT phone box into the CD-ROM drive
of your computer and double-click the Thuraya XT icon on the Support-CD to start the
installation. You must select the driver for your Operating System during the
installation.

Connect your laptop or PC to your Thuraya XT phone via the USB Data Cable included
in your Thuraya XT phone box.

On your Thuraya XT go to Menu, scroll to Settings and press the center key to
confirm, in the settings menu scroll to 6 Data connection and confirm with the
center key, after that select the Data port by scrolling with the left- and right soft
keys and choose USB
Your Thuraya XT is now properly connected to your computer. Make sure your Thuraya
XT phone has a working satellite connection (check on the idle screen if the phone is
connected to a satellite). After connecting you must set-up a Dial-up connection in yourcomputer as you would connect via a modem to the WWW:
Windows XP:
Go to Start – Settings – Network Connections. There you need to Create a new connection and clickNext .
On network connection type choose Connect to the Internet and select Setup my connection manually and click Next .
Now select Connect using a dial up modem and click Next where you must select the Thuraya XT phone
from the list. Enter a name you wish (e.g. “Thuraya GmPRS”) and click Next .
On the screen “Phone Number to Dial” enter *99# and click Next . After that you can choose your preferencewho can use the connection and click Next .
The following Internet Account Information you can leave blank and select Next. On the next screen select Add a shortcut to the desktop and select Finish. To start the connection double-click on the new desktopicon, leave user name and password blank and click Dial
Windows Vista:
Go to Start – Settings – Control Panel – Network and Internet and under Network and Sharing Center
select Connect to a network .
On the next screen click on Set up a connection or network and choose Set up a dial-up connection. You
can now choose the Thuraya XT from the list.
Enter the dial-up telephone number *99# and leave User name and Password blank.
If you want you can enter a Connection name (e.g. “Thuraya GmPRS”) and click Connect .
Windows 7:
Go to Start – Control Panel – View network status and tasks – Set up a new connection or network –Set up a dial-up connection.
Enter the dial-up telephone number *99# and leave User name and Password blank.If you want you can enter a Connection name (e.g. “Thuraya GmPRS”) and click Connect .
The connection to the Internet is now established for the first time. To start the connection the
next time you can click Start – Settings – Network connections and double-click the
Thuraya GmPRS connection to start. Or you use the shortcut on your desktop or right-click the
connection symbol on the bottom right of your computer screen (next to the clock).

HOW TO SEND AN E-MAIL WITH THURAYA XT?
1. On the idle screen of your Thuraya XT press the left softkey Menu
2. Scroll to Messaging and press the center key to enter the Messaging menu
3. Select New Message and press the center key to start
4. Type your message
Hints:
Press the 0-key 1 time for blank (=space), 2 times for the + symbol and 3 times for 0
Press the star-key (*) to open the menu with symbols
Press the hash-key (#) to switch between capital or small letters and numbers
Long-press the number 1 key to easily enter the digit 1 without scrolling through all thecharacters.
To use eZiText (predictive auto text), press Option, scroll to 9 eZiText (Autotext) and
press OK or long-press the star-key (*).
5. After typing your message
press Option
select 5 Sending option
select 2 Format
select 3 E-mail

7. You can now add the e-mail address of the recipient by entering it on the keypad.Hint: press *6 to enter the @-symbol.
8. In the screen “E-mail centre” enter the number: 1200
9. To transmit your e-mail press Send
