Title: Playing a Role

Through this essay, I will talk about the similarities and differences in the lives of boys and

girls to show gender inequality. Though some women in villages are working as panchayat

leaders and teachers, most women are expected to stay at home.

Take the example of boys and girls in the pictures. They seem to be the same age, but they

are doing different activities. The boys are studying in school, while the girls are doing

household chores. This is because people believe that boys will grow up to become the

breadwinner and look after their parents. They think that girls will get married and take

care of their homes so they teach them how to cook and clean. This attitude is changing

slowly. Many girls are allowed to go to college to become engineers, doctors and teachers.

Like boys, they are earning money and looking after their parents.

It is important that girls are not seen as a burden and encouraged to study. We should not

forget that girls and boys are equally important, so they should get equal opportunities.
