Our Equipment Commitment

The xpedx National Equipment Center (NEC) is a central resource

for 100-plus xpedx locations that sell packaging equipment.

Team members coordinate shipment and installation, over-

see parts fulfillment and manage preventive maintenance

programs. Manufacturer-trained service technicians

reside in local markets, but are dispatched from the

NEC to ensure efficient and responsive customer

service.

To learn more, contact your local xpedx or

the NEC at 877 489-3511.

Page 14: xpedx packaging equipment

• The Slip-Torque conveyor is based on polished stainless steel shafts individually powered by flexible belts on a line shaft or by a continuous chain

• These stainless steel shafts are covered with segment-ed, loose-fit rollers, which become the conveyor surface

• It is the weight of the product being conveyed combined with the coefficient of friction between the shafts and the inside diameter of the rollers that provides the driving force

• As the weight of the product increases, there is a corre-sponding increase in the driving force supplied

• As products stop, the segmented rollers beneath them also stop, creating very low back pressure accumulation to reduce or eliminate product damage

Shuttleworth® Slip-Torque® System

www.shuttleworth.com

Page 15: xpedx packaging equipment

• Utilizes a product stop and low back pressure to synchronize the release of the product to a belted infeed or a flighted infeed of a wrapper

• The combination of the low pressure queue area, the speed change, and the product stop, makes for jam free operation

• Gated infeeds operate at 20 to 80 products per minute

• The high speed infeed will reach rates of 120 prod-ucts per minute

• The entire SmartFeed® line may be integrated with new OEM machinery or to an existing machine in the field
