Our RoleThroughout a 22-month period, Safway provided several of our products, as well as erection and dismantling services, to assist in the construction of the Xanadu Meadowlands: an upcoming 2.3 million square-foot entertainment complex in East Rutherford, N.J.

The intricate and stimulating architectural design of Xanadu Meadowlands comes from The Rockwell Group.

The Snow DomeThe Xanadu Meadowlands Snow Dome is the first indoor skiing facility of its kind in North America.

To assist with the Snow Dome's construction, we provided 36,000 square feet of suspended Space Frame System (SFS) platforms, which traversed the entire 150,000 square feet of building area while suspended, leaving the floor

open for other trades to work below. In addition, we supplied 17 suspended Truss Frame System (TFS) platforms at approximately 500 square feet each for access to the building's perimeter.

The unique use of the SFS and TFS platforms for a large-scale, indoor application further demonstrated the adaptability of Safway's extensive product line.

Building E: The Fashion DistrictThe Building E Atrium required Sectional Scaffold and the construction of a two-level dance floor with approximately 63,000 square feet of deck area.

This contract is a portion of the Fashion District in Xanadu Meadowlands. Integrating the latest in fashion, the district will offer top quality brands and feature runway fashion shows and designer appearances.

Building B: The Entertainment DistrictThe Building B Atrium required Systems™ Scaffold to assist in the construction of a dance floor platform

that was lowered in stages to enable erection of the elliptical, vortex-shaped media tower wrapped in ribbons of LED video screens.

This portion of the project was for the Entertainment District of Xanadu Meadowlands, a “multimedia playground” showcasing the latest in music, movies and entertainment.

Thinking About Our CustomersSFS and TFS products were supplied by our Bridge Division and were a new acquisition to the company as of 2006. As a company devoted to customer satisfaction, we want to show our clients the benefits of these products and how they offer huge advantages in both bridge and non-bridge markets.

For the Xanadu project, the SFS and TFS products required using much less equipment than more conventional scaffolding, an advantage that helped our customers save a significant amount of time and money.
