At Zongoene Lodge, Situated at the mouth of the Limpopo River, approximately 50km from Xai-Xai, pristine beaches and abundant marine life make for idyllic post card memories. Zongoene Lodge is considered the prefect holiday destination for an escape from urban life, a wedding and honeymoon location or a conferencing and team building venue.

Casa Madeira (house of wood)

A two bedroom wooden cabin accommodating two Adults and two kids, the double bed is located in the loft. Casa Madeira consists of an open plan Lounge, dining area, kitchenette and a bathroom. The unit also has a wood deck leading out to a private barbeque (braai) area.

Casa Rao

Casa Rao offers luxury accommodation, sleeping four adults in two en-suite bedrooms (Bedrooms with their own bathrooms) with air-conditioning. It is equipped with a kitchenette, a fridge and freezer, a two plate stove with oven, a dining area and large veranda with breath taking views of the river mount and ocean. It also has its own private Barbeque (braai) area.

The Brown House

This house accommodates six people offering one en-suite master bedroom and two twin bedded rooms with 2 bathrooms. The spacious lounge, kitchenette with fridge and Freezer, Stove and oven and large veranda provides the guest with the perfect venue to relax after a full day’s activities.

The White House

The ideal Holiday house for large groups. The house includes 3 en-suite rooms with twin beds and 1 twin room with separate bathroom. The house also has a large lounge area leading out into a lovely veranda area and fully equipped kitchen.

Family Units

The 4 Serviced, self-catering A-frame family units are fully equipped with basic utensils, glassware and crockery for four guests. A two plate gas cooker is available on the outside veranda kitchen as well as a private barbeque (braai) area.

The units boast a main room with twin beds downstairs and a loft room upstairs with twin beds and one bathroom downstairs with fitted bath. The rooms all have mosquito nets. The downstairs bedroom is fitted with air-conditioning and the loft is fitted with ceiling fan. We provide you with towels and toilet paper. All other amenities must be provided by the guest

Pool Chalet

The 7 pool chalets are occupied on a bed and breakfast basis. They are all equipped with twin beds sleeping 2 guests per chalet, mosquito nets, air-conditioning as well as a coffee and tea station. The chalets are served daily and we provide you will towels, toilet paper and bathroom amenities.Enjoy watching the sunset from your private veranda.

Camping

The Camping facilities at Zongoene Lodge consist of 21 secluded sites of varying sizes and one ablution block with hot and cold water, showers, a bath and toilets (His and Hers). Every site has an electrical point for a fridge/freezer with standard South African fittings. Only 1 fridge/freezer is allowed per camp site.

All the camp sites at Zongoene Lodge can accommodate a maximum of 6 people. The camp sites are on sand and are easily accessible for guest traveling with trailers and camper vans.

Facilities & ServicesRestaurant & BarOur Restaurant, inspired mainly by the Portuguese with a local Mozambique flair, is famous for its freshly caught seafood and boasts the best beef in Mozambique. ConferencingThe Lodge can cater for conferencing groups of up to 60 people. This well designed venue has access to the spectacular indigenous gardens. Various team building activities and cultural experiences can be arranged to suit your needs. The conference hall can

Weddings& HoneymoonZongoene is ideal for small intimate weddings or the run away wedding, where two people wants to get away from it all and commit too each other with just a small amount of close family and friends. Zongoene is also ideal for that private secluded honeymoon you’ve dreamt about.

ActivitiesZongoene Lodge offers a host of attraction to choose from to combat any tendency towards boredom. Discover deserted beaches, sand dunes, coastal forests or nearby villages on a quad bike or embark on a leisurely sunset river cruise on the Limpopo.

Undertake visits to local villages, Monte Bello Lighthouse, the coastal town of Bilene or nearby Xai-Xai. Laze by the pool with a good book and a long cocktail. Watch whales from June – October.

FishingZongoene is a paradise for deep sea anglers with unrivalled catches of game fish and Bill fish only 300m from the launch. Pinnacles with shoals of monster King Fish, Cuta (King Mackerel), Tuna and many other pelagic species are waiting for you. Zongoene is situated where the Limpopo River enters the Indian Ocean which gives anglers the best of both worlds.

Surf fishing is a very specialised type of fishing and it requires some very specialised tackle, it is best to pay a visit to your local angling shop to get the best advice of what to use for a specific area. Surf fishing for most of the times is consistent all year round but please, just check with management during the rainy season. Anglers are welcome to bring their own boat, Zongoene Lodge can also assist in booking a boat and skipper for you.

Rubber DuckAs swimming is not advices in the river mouth, Zongoene lodge provides a rubber duck, which taxis guests to and from the main beach at an extra cost.

Quad BikesZongoene Lodge offers guided scenic tour to Zongoene Village and the 10 year old Monte Bello lighthouse overlooking the Limpopo River and Zongoene Lodge.

Sunset River Cruise

Enjoy a laidback cruise along the Limpopo River on our ski-boat called Zongoene1 whilst our local history guru astonishes you with the history of the Zongoene area.

Toll gatesThere are two toll gates between Lobombo border and Maputo. Payment for Toll gates are strictly cash and the following currency is accepted; ZAR, USD & Mtn.

Petrol/Diesel

Available in all major towns, fill up in Komatipoort, again in Macia before commencing to the lodge. Petrol card are not accepted so be sure to carry some local currency with you when you fill up. The Lodge can also supply you with fuel as we do have a fuel pump on site.

Speed LimitThe Speed Limit is 60km – 40km ph in villages (please check the sign boards) and 80km just outside the village. When you see a sign post with a black 60 and three black lines through it the speed limit is 120km ph. Adhere to speed limits as they are strictly policed. The dirt road to the lodge has a speed limit of 30km ph, please adhere to this limit and be cautious as there are many children in the villages.

Reservation ProceduresPlease note that Zongoene Lodge is in, a malaria endemic area. You should consult a health professional for advice on the appropriate precautions for you, preferably at least 21 days prior to arrival.

Terms of Payment: 50% Non-refundable deposit required to confirm and secure your booking within 5 days of receiving your reservation confirmation and banking details. Final payment must be made 30 days before arrival date.No refunds will be given in the event of non-show or early departures.
